Cheerleader accused of luring boyfriend to his demise wants bond eased for dorm living

An 18-year-old cheerleader charged in connection with her boyfriend’s shooting demise has asked a court to relax her bond conditions so she can apply to other colleges and potentially live in student accommodation.

Gianna Kistenmacher, one of nine people charged in the 2025 murder of 16-year-old Trey Wright, filed a motion last month seeking the removal of GPS monitoring and her overnight curfew, according to ABC 15 News. She also asked for permission to use social media. Investigators allege that Kistenmacher brought Devan Raper to Wright’s home knowing that Raper was armed and that a confrontation would take place.

According to Court TV, Wright and Raper had argued online over Raper spending time with Kistenmacher. The outlet reported that nine teenagers travelled to Wright’s home. When Wright approached the vehicle in which Raper was sitting, Raper allegedly shot him in the chest, causing his demise.

Kistenmacher faces a murder charge in connection with the incident. Her attorney has disputed allegations that she organised the confrontation or orchestrated Wright’s demise. In the motion seeking changes to her bond, Kistenmacher said she had complied with all conditions since her release on July 28, 2025.

She currently attends a local college. In February, a judge removed her house-arrest requirement and replaced it with an overnight curfew. Kistenmacher is now seeking greater flexibility to pursue her education, including the opportunity to apply to other institutions and live in a dormitory.

Her lawyer has previously said she went to the hospital after the shooting to be with Wright, arguing that her actions did not support the allegation that she planned his demise. The report did not state whether the court had ruled on her latest request. The allegations against her remain before the court.
