Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she challenged film bosses after discovering that unauthorised crew members had been allowed on set while she was filming an unclad scene.
The Oscar-winning actress, 36, said the incident prompted concerns about how younger, less established performers might be treated if they lacked the influence to object. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Lawrence said she had become increasingly aware of the responsibility attached to her position in Hollywood. “I speak up more because I’m also aware of the place that I have in the industry,” she said.
Recalling the incident, Lawrence said people who had not been approved to attend the filming were permitted onto the set. “I came down hard on it,” she said. The Hunger Games star explained that her reaction was motivated partly by concern about the precedent such behaviour could set for other actresses.
She questioned whether an 18-year-old performer beginning her career would feel able to challenge those responsible, particularly if she feared being labelled difficult. Lawrence said a younger actress might instead feel pressured to remain silent while people she had not agreed to have present watched her perform an unclad scene.
She wanted those involved to understand why allowing unauthorised access was unacceptable. The actress did not identify the production or disclose when the incident occurred. The report cited SAG-AFTRA guidelines requiring scenes involving unclad performances or simulated s3xu@l activity to take place on closed sets, with access limited to people essential to the work.
Lawrence’s comments follow her previous discussions about privacy and consent after intimate photographs of her were stolen and circulated online in 2014. She was among several female celebrities affected by the hacking and subsequently condemned the publication of the images as a violation.
When preparing for her role in the 2018 spy thriller Red Sparrow, Lawrence said the prospect of appearing unclad on screen initially frightened her. Speaking to Vanity Fair at the time, she explained that she worried people would question her decision after she had publicly condemned the unauthorised release of her private photographs.

However, she stressed that consent was the distinction between the two experiences. “One is my choice,” she said, explaining that choosing to perform the scene helped her reclaim something she felt had been taken from her. Lawrence later appeared unclad in the 2023 comedy No Hard Feelings.
More recently, she filmed intimate scenes opposite Robert Pattinson in the 2025 psychological drama Die My Love while pregnant with her second child. Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast last year, she said she had felt comfortable working with Pattinson and did not believe they needed an intimacy coordinator for their scenes. “I felt really safe with Rob,” she said.
She described him as respectful and devoted to his partner, Suki Waterhouse. Lawrence also said she had encountered male actors who reacted negatively when female co-stars rejected their advances, but maintained that this had never been an issue with Pattinson.
