A 27-year-old woman, Metallica Rose Harrison, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after allegedly attacking her husband and their three-year-old son with a knife, leading to their deaths during a family getaway at a resort in Pennsylvania, United States.
According to police, the incident occurred inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge, where the family had been staying for several weeks. The family reportedly checked in on September 21 and extended their stay on October 5.
Authorities alleged that Harrison attacked her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, identified as T.H., with a sharp object before inflicting injuries on herself in an apparent attempt to take her own life.
Police said she subsequently called 911, asking the dispatcher for assistance in ending her life.
“My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room,” she reportedly told the dispatcher. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”
According to court documents, Harrison later told emergency medical personnel that she had always wanted to be a good wife and mother.
“Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” she reportedly said, adding that she had dreamed of having a happy family since childhood.
Investigators recovered two sharp objects, medication bottles and other items from the hotel room, with police reportedly collecting between 80 and 90 pieces of evidence.
The Monroe County District Attorney described the incident as a domestic tragedy and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat.
Harrison remained hospitalised and had not been arraigned as of Tuesday night, while investigations into the incident continued.
