The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, in connection with the murder of two persons at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, and declared the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, wanted.
The arrest follows the murder of George Atuguba, 57, and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, on Friday, October 30, 2026, at their residence in Sakumono.
According to a police statement issued, preliminary investigations suggest that the murders may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from Osei Anto (PICTURED) but failed to repay the amount.
Police investigations indicate that Osei Anto went to the deceased’s residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Beatrice Mumuni, to demand repayment of the money.
A misunderstanding reportedly ensued during the confrontation, resulting in Osei Anto allegedly shooting and unalibing George Atuguba and Irene, a mother of two boys.
The two victims were rushed to the hospital but were pronounced deceased by a medical officer.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
In an update on the investigation, the Police said Mumuni is believed to have led Osei Anto to the victims’ residence before the murders.
Meanwhile, the Police have declared Osei Anto wanted to assist with investigations and announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to his arrest.
Members of the public with information about his whereabouts have been urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the Police through its emergency numbers.
The Police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the fugitive suspect and bring him to justice.
