Suspected Boko Haram fighter surrenders to troops in Borno

A suspected Boko Haram (JAS) fighter has surrendered to troops of the Nigerian Army while they were conducting patrol along the BOCOBS axis in Borno State.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on October 28, 2026, when troops of 202 Battalion, 21 Special Armoured Brigade, intercepted the suspected terrorist while he was on his way to surrender.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a report on Sunday, November 1.

Preliminary investigation reportedly revealed that the suspect escaped from a Boko Haram enclave around Bula Daloye in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The sources said the suspected fighter fled the enclave without a rifle before making his way towards the troops to surrender.

The suspect is currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

The surrender comes amid ongoing military operations aimed at weakening terrorist networks and encouraging fighters to abandon insurgent groups in the Lake Chad region.
