A complainant in the ongoing trial against British comedian and actor, Russell Brand has told the Southwark Crown Court that she pleaded with the entertainer to stop during an alleged s.3xual @ss@ult in 1999.
Jurors were shown a video recording of the woman's September 2023 police interview, in which she recounted that the incident occurred following a fringe event at the Labour Party conference in Bournemouth.
According to the testimony, the woman met Brand by chance while he was performing in a cabaret show. After the venue closed, they discussed a collaborative project and returned to her hotel room. The complainant noted that she invited him to her room rather than a pub because she disliked nightlife environments, admitting that she had mistakenly assumed he was gay due to his appearance and mannerisms.
The woman described how Brand stripped naked in the room, acting eccentrically before allegedly pushing her onto a bed, straddling her, and executing the assault.
"He knew I didn't want it, he knew. At that point he didn't really care," she told police in the recorded interview. "He was just wanting to ejaculate and that's what he did. He just wanted s3x. It was really quite quick."
She added that after the incident, Brand hastily gathered his belongings, claimed he needed to visit his mother, and reassured her regarding his health before leaving his contact information. Left alone, the woman described experiencing severe emotional distress, self-blame, and feelings of guilt.
The court also heard corroborating testimony from a former friend and fellow performer, Mr. Pinheiro, who stated that Brand appeared "discombobulated" and rushed their departure from Bournemouth the following day, remarking that he felt he "may have gone a bit too far."
Brand denies all allegations, including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault involving six women between 1999 and 2009. The trial continues.
