“Normalize asking for help as a man”- Lady breaks down after finding her late brother’s payslip

A Nigerian woman has made an emotional appeal urging men to normalize asking for help instead of silently bearing crushing financial burdens.

The lady recently lost her brother and was heartbroken after discovering his monthly payslip while sorting through his belongings. Upon seeing his actual earnings, she was left wondering how he had managed to shoulder his immense personal responsibilities alongside the financial demands of extended family members.

In a tearful video, she revealed that her late brother had two children in university. Despite his limited income, he consistently catered to their school needs while continuing to extend financial assistance to others. She expressed deep regret that family members—unaware of his stretched resources—would sometimes query him about what he did with his money.

She said;

‘’Some of you men need to ask for help. Men, please normalize asking for help, speaking up, please normalize it, especially when you have people around that can help you. Please, normalize asking for help.

I just saw my brother's payslip today and realised he was dying in silence. He will put up a strong face, still wants to help others.

Men, please, always ask for help when you need help. Don't man it up. Don't man it up. Please, ask for help.

My brother was struggling. He was bottling everything up. He was putting up a masked face. Some people were even judging him ‘’what are you doing with money?'  We did not know he was going through a lot.

I just saw his payslip and I am broken. How did he survive with this kind of payslip? He has two children in the university, How did he do it?

Ask for help when you need help. You are a man. You are not God. Please ask for help when you need help. Ask for help when you need help, please.''

    Tell us how much he’s earning and where he’s working and we might understand how he’s surviving. His allowances might be making up for the salary. But you can start helping now that you know!
