Manchester United have decided against sacking head coach Michael Carrick, giving the under-pressure manager another opportunity to turn around the club’s disappointing start to the season.
This comes shortly after the Manchester United hierarchy held crisis talks over a string of poor results.
The decision means Carrick will remain in charge for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 45-year-old came under intense pressure after United suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, extending their winless run to eight matches across all competitions.
The loss followed a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League, further intensifying scrutiny of Carrick’s position at Old Trafford.
According to reports, United chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox held discussions about the manager’s future on Monday before the club opted to give him more time to improve results.
United are reportedly considering alternative managerial options, with former Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe and Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann among the names linked with the job.
