The spokesperson for the corps in the state, ASCI Ayoola Michael Shola, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The suspects, Nurah Abdullahi, 20, popularly known as Hartabo, and Sherif Abdullahi, 23, were arrested on the 5th of October 2026, following a credible intelligence tip-off and an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Command.
During the operation and subsequent search, NSCDC operatives recovered vandalised transformer cables, cable outer and inner peels, a Bajaj motorcycle, a saw, a knife and a pair of electrical gloves, among other items relevant to the investigation.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are allegedly connected to the vandalisation of electricity infrastructure within the Tanke-Iledu community, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons suspected to be involved in the activities.
The State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure across the state.
The Commandant reiterated his firm position that Kwara State will not be allowed to become a safe haven for vandals, criminals or economic saboteurs, assuring residents that the Command will continue to deploy intelligence-led operations to identify, arrest and investigate persons involved in acts capable of threatening public safety and critical infrastructure.
He further warned individuals involved in the vandalisation of public infrastructure to desist from such acts, stressing that the Command remains determined to protect government assets and safeguard the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of Kwara State.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation and establishment of a prima facie case, in accordance with the law.
