Court sentences father to 30 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo has sentenced a 47-year-old man, Samuel Adesina, to 30 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old biological daughter.

Adesina, a native of Ondo State, committed the offences at his residence on Aka Itiam Road, Uyo.

In an extra-judicial statement, the convict had confessed to having sexual intercourse with his daughter since May 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The court, presided over by Justice Gabriel Ette, found Adesina guilty of rape and incest in a judgment delivered on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

In evaluating the evidence before the court, this morning, Justice Ette applied the provisions of Section 135(1) of the Evidence Act 2011, as amended, before finding the defendant guilty of both offences.

The court sentenced Adesina to 20 years in prison for rape and an additional 10 years for incest, bringing the total sentence to 30 years.
