The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has said the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, does not pose a threat to the re-election of President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
Umahi stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, noting that Obi is not the only presidential aspirant from the South-East.
“By the way it is not only Peter Obi that is from the South-East that is contesting. We have about three or four other presidential candidates who are contesting.
We have the Labour Party and I think there are other two, even a woman is involved. So, Peter Obi is not a threat as far as I am concerned,” Umahi said.
The minister, however, said he was not underestimating the former Anambra State governor, adding that the APC’s record in government would help attract voters in the South-East.
In the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, who then contested under the Labour Party (LP), swept all five states in the region.
He is not a threat, he just causes you and APC sleepless nights thats all..
Wetin you go talk before una no go admit am for sure. Peter Obi is APC and all the wicked Rulers of Nigeria's nightmare
Peter Obi, the oxygen Umahi and APC breathes
Wonderful! "Peter Obi is not a threat to APC" yet there's no day that passes without Umahi mentioning the name Peter Obi. Isn't it funny that he can't even remember the name of other contestants from the South East? Dave Umahi and all APC stalwarts are jittery and having sleepless nights over Peter Obi. If dem born una well and una say Tinubu has done well, make una just allow free and fair election this once.
