Watch how a brave woman confronted and stopped a thief from stealing her car

28-year old Melissa Smith from Wisconsin has been given props by many for summoning the courage to stop a thief from stealing her car.

The video below shows Melissa at a petrol station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, filling her car with gas when a thief jumped in her car and tried to drive away.

The fearless woman instantly reacted by jumping and clinging to the hood of the car as the carjacker tried to drive off with her.

The frustrated thief who came with his gang members and couldn't stand the woman's braveness ultimately gave up and got away in a car waiting for him, leaving Melissa to run after her moving vehicle.

In an interview with BBC, she said it wasn’t until later that she had considered the potential danger of her actions.

That's called stupid in America...maybe brave in Africa. Every car has insurance which covered the car and owner, what happened if she dies or get hurt? She will be a looser for life. She must be crack head, no sane woman bahave like that.

At least she gave it a try

That's not brave, it's stupidity. If the robber sped off and she fell what then. Plus this happened in the US where thieves are normally armed. The car is insured, she should have just let it be.

What if they shot her?
She acted on impulse obviously...
Don't try this ...

If she had a push to start car, with wireless keys, the car would never have started with her outside the car and the keys in her pocket. Thats one huge advantage of this technology, but she would have had to have had the keys in her pocket in the first place.
Dangerously brave she was, that one.

Well insurance does not mean that you spoil as you like and get it replaced. Insurance claims will affect your future premiums and credit score so its really not as straightforward as they would have you believe.

There were at least 4 people in the car, including the thief-to-be. Did ONE happen to remember that ALL would be culpable for that single idiot's actions??

Each faces nothing less than 4 criminal charges: theft, robbery, kidnapping and assault.

When you're at the scene of a crime, everyone who accompanies the perpetrator is held responsible for whatever happens.

Even if (by a long shot) the car is worth $30k in the black market, is the jail term worth it??

Probably not.

But American prisons are incredibly lax. We tax payers end up bearing the brunt of their stupid actions!!
