UPDATE: Bayelsa Govt. beg for peace as security intensify hunt for suspected murderer of teenage girl in Yenagoa

As earlier reported by LIB, 17-year-old Faith Pius died from wounds sustained when she was stabbed by a 26-year-old man identified as Tochukwu in a hotel room Biogbolo-Epie area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Friday night.
The incident reportedly led to a clash between the indigenes and Igbo residents in the area.

A statement signed by the state commissioner for Information, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite has called on residents of the state to remain calm and avoid any further act that will disrupt the existing peace in the state as security agents intensify hunt of the suspected murderer of the teenager.
The commissioner warned residents against taking the laws into their hands in the feat of rage. Obuebite says the government condemns the dastardly act in very strong terms, adding that it is purely a criminal act and the state security agencies are working tirelessly to unravel the mystery behind the killings.
Also the information boss used the opportunity to dissuade the rumour making the rounds that the deceased was mutilated, he says it is untrue as the police commissioner has confirmed that the remains of the teenage girl was found intact.
He advised residents in the area to remain peace abiding and not see it as an ethnic or tribal issue as Bayelsa state is a home to all, he craved their indulgence to allow the law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties of unravelling the mystery surrounding the incident.
More so the state Police Commissioner has assured the Bayelsa State Government that his men will stop at nothing to fish out the perpetrator(s) of the dastardly act and bring them to book.
Obuebite says that the state government is committed to ensure that the state is peaceful and assured the family of Miss Faith of the support of the state government, security agents and the good people of the state.
He maintained that youths in the area should not use the incident to disrupt the peace of the state, he also urged residents of the Biogbolo area of Yenagoa to remain peaceful, law abiding and go about their lawful duties without any fear of molestation or discrimination as everything is being done to guarantee their safety.

LIB, actually the incident has caused more than harm here in Yenagoa. Many properties and buildings are vandalised by perpetrators who took the advantage of the incident. If not that it was appraised it could have cause a communal clash between the the Igbos and Ijaw in Bayelsa. Though the event is pitiable, the live of faith is been lost but that shouldn't take other lives as well. Police authorities should arrest the killer and bringing her to book as well as others who vandalised innocent people's properties. That's the lesson from lovers without future.

Nnenne George, yes Teen should be focusing on books and relevance and not boyfriend mantra. These days out teens are loose courtesy of parents and guardians. They leave these teens to their own fate.
Well, this may serve as deterrent to our families. A lot of rape, defilement and abuse in our society just because most families ignore or neglect the home building (Training of a child). Let's join in the fight against Gender based violence
