See previous letters president Buhari sent to National Assembly informing them that Osinbajo will take over as he leaves Nigeria

The first two on top were previous letters and the one below is the latest one that got people talking..

As the choice of words in President Buhari's recent letter to the National Assembly, informing them of his medical leave to the UK continues to generate controversy, some Nigerians have dug out his past letters to the NASS members where he stated that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would perform the functions of his office.

"While I am away, the Vice President will perform the functions of my office" President Buhari stated in his letter to the senate on January 18th. Even when he asked for an extension, President Buhari stated clearly that Osinbajo will continue to act on his behalf.

In his recent letter to the senate which was read yesterday, President Buhari said Osinbajo would "coordinate the activities of government", causing an uproar.

no matter what osinbajo does to prove that he is now the acting president, the fact

remains that the constitution makes it clear that the vice president takes over from president when he is incapicated.

It's just different wording, but the ultimate purpose is the same thing.

"The first two on top were previous letters and the one below is the latest one that got people talking.."

I am sure you meant to say .....that got uninformed, illiterate and lazy people talking.

According to Section 145 of the Constitution, there is next to no ambiguity in the role of the Vice President as soon as the President has transmitted a letter to the National Assembly that he will be absent and unable to discharge the functions of his office. The Section 145 goes on to say that the functions of the office of the President shall be discharged by the Vice President as the Acting President.

Furthermore, the letter did not refer to the Acting President as a " coordinator" rather it stated that he shall " coordinate the activities of government" which is exactly what a President does

If you are not in charge you cannot coordinate the activities of government.

He says with compliance to section 145,subsection 1 of the 1999 constitution. For that reason, osinbajo is the acting president.

There is no reason whatsoever to be. Worried here, the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria, section mandates/stipulates that a letter shall be sent to the National Assembly informing them of his absence, subsequent on which the Vice President shall assume the Position of the acting president,,that section did not empower the President to chose what type of power or nomenclature that to be assigned to the vice President, rather it states that the national assembly shall recieve the letter, and the the Vice President shall hence forth assume the Powers of the President on an acting Capacity,period...Leaner ed fellows in the house can confirm my position...so there is really no nned for any form of controversy over this,,cos transmission of the letter and same being read is all that is required for the Vice to assumme the Acting President role/capacity..

To coordinate means to bring the different elements of (a complex activity or organization) into a harmonious or efficient relationship. Take brain nigeria..who ever is coordinating is in charge.

The constitution is clear on this. Letter is letter. Constitution is constitution.

Irrespective of whatever name PMB used to describe Prof Osinbajo,I will go by the Provisions of our constitution as regards transfer of power to the VP on PMB's absence. He clearly made reference to that Provision.I am sure Buhari does not mean bad but the cabal does.God will deliver us all IJN

You sure are so correct. It's a shame that even a single member of the senate would say or suspect otherwise.
