Photos: Streets deserted as South East residents obey IPOB leaders "Sit at home" order

Streets and market places in the South East states are currently deserted owing to the "Sit at Home" order issued by IPOB leaders in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Biafra war.

The residents of the different states are scared of coming out to engage in their lawful activities for fear of being attacked by the IPOB members.

The different south east governors and the police have  issued statements assuring the residents of the different states to go about their lawful businesses as there would be maximum security provided for them.

They are not obeying Kanu, they are scared to come out as the ipob thugs may attack them. Eya I feel sorry for the innocent Igbo people living in the east. This Kanu guy needs to be sent to jail again for flouting his bail restrictions, and causing fear in the hearts of law abiding innocent and hard working Igbo Nigerians

I can see that this is NOT a paid advert, otherwise LIB would have indicated so.

The following comment, however, shows extreme bias and immature reporting: "The residents of the different states are scared of coming out to engage in their lawful activities for fear of being attacked by the IPOB members". This connotes that the call by IPOB is illegal. What has happened to freedom of expression as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution???

Surely LIB or its affiliate organizations NEVER conducted a survey to arrive at this conclusion. Did they? Could it just be that many of the residents of the South East are aligned to the Sit-At-Home call by IPOB???

This is how boko haram started filtering through the news in small bits until they became a menace to us all.The government sjould not delay in curbing this biafra madness. Nigeria will never be great if we keep being divided along tribal lines.

Anonymous said...

@ada you are only jealous of a woman who picked herself up and looked beyond her gender and ethnicity(Igbo) to actually work hard and build an empire for herself. Whilst the rest of you are happily lazing at home in the name of ipob, she is still working in Lagos, earning whilst you are here typing rubbish on her blog. I pray God will take the scales out of your Eyes.

Anonymous said...

It is clearly out of fear. By the time they are hit with severe hunger they will go out and work.

What genocide, Ojukwu started something, people perished and he ran away for 13 years and you are celebrating.. See twisted minds. The good thing is Ojukwu clearly stated that it is a lost cause and advised igbos not to pick that struggle ever again and instead to work with Nigeria as one. His beautiful wife also took up an ambassadorial political appointment with Nigeria... Does that not tell you all something?

Typical Hausas are very honest people.

What a country. May 30th and the Offensive Name they call Igbos "Nyamiri".
Aguiyi Ironsi had just been killed in Ibadan by a horde of blood thirst officers led by one Theophilus Danjuma.... The Northern military had ceased most barracks in the country and were performing the ethnic Igbo cleansing that had been planned all along....
From the eve of July 29, 1966 over 270 Igbo senior military officers were killed in Abeokuta, Ibadan , Lagos, Zaria etc... As this butchery of human beings was going on in what was tagged a retaliatory coup, the northern officers declared araba... Ferried their families home to secede from the rest of British Nigeria...
But this plan was discarded when Britain sold the idea of oil to them and how they will profit from taking control of the oil...
As the killing of military officers of Igbo origin was getting to a climax, the Northern civilians unleashed their cubs and machetes on innocent civilians all through the North... People were cut into pieces.. In 30 days, over 20,000 Igbo lives were mowed down by this sheer barbarism...
In those days, rail transportation was the major means of traveling to the East from the North.. So when the train departed, one will have to wait for its return before another set of Igbo could depart the North...
The orgy for violence in the Northern civilians was without limits... Students killed their Igbo teachers... Colleagues at work killed their fellow Igbo colleagues.. House owners killed their Igbo tenants.. It was in this frenzy and death orgy that the Igbo devised a plan of survival.... The plan was to run to the emirate and seek refuge until the train that left for the east returned...
Many Igbo ran to emir palaces in the north seeking refuge not knowing that the emirate was planning the final Igbo solution... As they ran into the palace, they were all welcomed... So this encouraged other Igbo who were hiding to run to the palace...
Then the final solution set in when the numbers of Igbo seeking refuge was increased.. They will be allowed to die slowly.. No food.. No water must be offered to them..
For days, the Igbo seeking refuge from the Northern progrom were denied food and water... They started crying.. Begging the palace to give them water in their local Igbo dialect "nye mu mmiri " but the northern civilian heard nya miri..
So that was the origin of the offensive name called the Igbo by the north... When ever they call you nyamiri, they are trying to remind you of your Igbo predecessors who they starved of food and water until they all died...
May 30 is another day to remember all those defenseless Igbo civilians who died in that progrom that preceded the war..
May 30 is another day we remember those who sought refuge in the emirate but were allowed to die slowly in pain..
May 30 is another day for retrospection and introspection on our commitment to building up our homeland to cater for all the Igbo aspirations the world over....
Ozoemena...
Maka odinma Ndi Igbo. Send to all ur friends

Go to Oguta,Egbema in Imo state state, you see petroleum resources and the oil companies there drilling and refining oil. Go to various parts of Abia state, you see oil exploration and refinery going on. You think we are Hausa/Fulani who can't do without your oil? Anon 15:59, Sharap! Don't say rubbish you don't know. Mumu illiterate, do you read books at all? Ojukwu's father was the wealthiest man in Nigeria at the time Ojukwu rebelled. His father was like Dangote then. He fought the war with his father's money. You said he made millions from where? Dead Nigeria? Oil was not discovered as at then. Nigeria was as poor as anything then. Mumu! Ojukwu was sent by his father to study in England, he used rolls royce then in school at the disapproval of the British. He fought selflessly for his people, risked his life, his money as a young man who still had his life ahead of him. That's why his supportive Igbos told him to embark on the exile, so as to be alive to continue the fight. Here we are keeping the struggle alive. If Ojukwu had died in the war, Biafra would've died. Biafra lives!
