NNPC to resume search for oil in the Lake Chad Basin

The Chief Executive Officer in charge of Gas and Power in NNPC, Saidu Mohammed, yesterday disclosed that the oil corporation would resume its search for oil in the Lake Chad Basin by the end of the year. Mohammed who was speaking on behalf of the group managing director of the corporation, Maikanti Baru, said this when a group of top management staff of the corporation, paid a visit to the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, at the council chambers of Government House in  Maiduguri.

According to Mohammed, light and heavy duty exploration equipment are  currently being moved into the basin to commence full oil prospecting by the end of 2017.
"We are here in Borno to express our full alignment to the ongoing reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement process by government in all the liberated communities. Therefore, NNPC wants to appeal and seek where it can come in and assist, because, the rate of devastation is worrisome. We are also in the state to inform you that in the next six weeks, we are going to redeploy our team of experts back to Maiduguri to resume oil exploration with better technology in the Lake Chad Basin. This is necessary with our renewed efforts in harnessing, Oil, Gas and Power to increase the economy of the nation, in line with the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari in job creation and economic diversification” he said.

The North should account for how much of the country's resources they have wasted over the decades looking for non-existent oil in the desert. resources that should have been used to improve the life of the pauperized people.

Goodluck with the findings....that's if they would ever find it

Rather than focus on tapping into renewable energy & better utilization of the abundance of gas we have, they are going to waste money (or steal).
From geological analysis, this is going to be a fruitless effort & they still will venture into it.
I wonder when our leaders will be real enough to tell themselves the truth...

For where. They are looting the 40billion under the guise of searching for oil. Corruption reloaded!

End of discussion. These are avenues to loot.

Waste of money, time and resources. They should kukuma search for diamond in the North. Rather than encourage renewable energy and agriculture. Just another lazy venture, to further encourage laziness.

The oil that is holding Nigeria together. The reason why Hausa wants to continually stay in Ask Rock, so that the South will not run away with the oil. Can they please find the oil including the wells they acquired for themselves over the years and leave? So that Nigeria will disintegrate in peace.
