How can cultism be eradicated from tertiary institutions? Do these young people who join and take lives know that there is life after school? This is really very sad

Hello All, the deceased happens to be my kid brother from same parents. He has been a very good boy all his life. Never had issues with anyone. There's been lots of talks around how Umar died and this kept us all in worries... now Olivia said she was there and that the event even happened right in her presence, this simply implies that both Olivia and the other guys didn't actually run away as they initially claimed when the police interrogated them, now We have Olivia saying it happened in her presence. Umar was never into any association in school apart from being the sport coordinator of the school. The position he got was because he led the school team to enugu for some basketball tournaments and became victorious and was recognized by the school. Umar Alao got an award of the most friendly student on campus which should also tell you that he actually has no issues with anyone. It's not possible for the bad gang to recognize umar in the dark and then for Olivia and the other set of boys not to be able to atleast recognize or even have an idea of what those bad boys look like... this case is being moved to the state CID and we must get to the root of this. Does it mean a Northerner cannot school in the east even when we have Igbo guys spread in the north even as far as Borno and Sokoto. Olivia and the rest of the guys should be ready to have more interactions with the police. The school VC gave us a story of a mistaken identity which we couldn't buy in because even the police said it's all lies. The VC claims that the Director of Transport of the SUG who is an Igbo guy was nicknamed Mohammed Suleiman, how can that be a nickname. That the Guy was trying to introduced a better transport system into the school and the host community were against it because of their interest and had to send threats to the acclaimed mohammed Sulaiman over the phone and that the boy had always reported same to the VC. The VC haven known all these, never made up Jos mind to inform the security operatives of the development but kept it cold until this incidence happened. This is totally not acceptable and must be fully investigated. The set of guys moving with my kid brother on that night it happened knows who killed my brother and must be brought to book. We are doing a petition already to the office of the IGP. Mohammed Umar is well known by both the DPO and other Mobile police men of Uli Division because he is the son of a retired senior police officer and hails from Kogi state which just shares boundary with the east. I'm Jibril Mohammed.

@jibril mohammed. am sorry for your loss if the deceased is truly a relative of yours as alleged. but I don't quite agree with your unwise thoughts about his death being tribal affiliated, let me remind you that daily in this country a man is being killed in another mans land due to one reason or the other, other than tribal, religious or political, so don't try to drag the civil story into this unfortunate occurrence.
Even if the deceased was a cultist he couldn't had called a family meeting in kogi and announced it to everybody that he was a cultist. many would say he looks like a cultist but I wont tell you what I think.
For the young lady who claimed to be there when this tragedy occurred is vividly being untruthful, because only very few would run to facebook to broadcast such an event after the post-traumatic shock they mst have gone through.. I want justice for the victim and do pray his soul rests in peace..my case is against your tribal attack..BEEF AND DIE

@Jibril Mohammed sorry for your loss brother because I believe that whatever happens to any Nigerian whether good or bad happened to all of us. That is why we are still rejoicing with Anthony Joshua the Nigerian British boxer on his achievements even though I haven't met him in real life. From the way you sound, you now exhibit sectarian hate due to what happened. It is not any fault of yours but let me enlighten you a bit. Have you ever been held under gun point before? I have and i know the trauma is so severe that at times it is impossible to remember even the facial resemblance of the culprit(s) let alone when such incidence happened at night. Also, if the lady with him is responsible in anyway, she would never admit being present at the crime scene. No way! Moreso, delete your statement if it were a crime to study in the eastern part of the country. Mind you the easterners are the most hospitable ethnic group in Nigeria. I remember vividly this past easter celebration on which day I visited my mom and I saw one aboki shoemaker eating rice and chicken in my family house with the same plate my mom serves me food. So when I asked her why? She smiled and said he is God's wonderful creature like me. Hope you can see the difference? Try that in any northern states and you may lose your hand or limb as a result. Your bro maybe innocent after all but don't venge your anger on the innocent one(s). Wait until the actual culprits are found.

Sorry for your loss Jibril Mohammed but some little errors in your write up were found.
1... Don't say is it a crime for a northerner to school in the east.... do you know how many easterners brothers have died the last few years in the hand of the northerners...
2.... Maybe he has feud up a fight or quarrels with someone and was set up or with the cultist.... just investige well and don't point fingers at anyone or state yet.

U are such an idiot, what has growing beards got to do with this? So growing beards now classify u to be murdered in cold blood? Please go and sleep if you have nothing to say

You made good points and I feel your pain. However you spoilt it by your statement - "Does it mean a Northerner cannot school in the east even when we have Igbo guys spread in the north even as far as Borno and Sokoto". What do you mean by that? Why introduce ridiculous sentiments? Is there a pattern of Northern students being killed in the east? You want to turn a criminal act (which must be investigated and perpetrators brought to justice) into an ethnic thing? Stop that rubbish!

I know you are grieving and, as an Igbo person, I'm sorry that such had to happen to you in my land, but don't turn this tragic incident into something that it's not.

RIP Mohammed

Sorry for your loss . are you saying he was killed simply because he's a northerner? How many igbo ppl due everyday from this stupid cult thing? He might not have been a cultist, maybe they invited him and he turned them down, it could have been anything but ethnicity definitely isn't it. May God soul RIP and his killers be brought to justice. Not all Kogi ppl call themselves notherners by the way.
