Stop the drama over the recovered $50m found in Ikoyi apartment- Bishop Kukah to EFCC

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah has asked the EFCC to immediately stop the drama the recovered $50 million found in an apartment in Ikoyi Lagos state last week has generated, describing it as embarassing.

Speaking at a national anti-money laundering / counter financing of terrorism sensitization seminar by the Inter-governmental Action group against Money laundering in West Africa (GIABA) in Kaduna today, Kukah said the inability of the antigraft agency to disclose the owner of the recovered loot is a dent on the nation's image.
“I feel more demoralized and very humiliated as a Nigerian but the confusion is that we are dealing with monies that are of the sizable of budget of some African states. I think it’s unthinkable that we are having such money running into billions of naira and we don’t know who owned such monies. Frankly like I said if I were a foreigner my respect for Nigeria will dwindles seriously. Even me as a Nigerian I feel quite violated and I don’t really know if all this theatre is the best way to go. I think that the agencies concerned should have less dramatic but effective way of telling us the work they are doing, rather than this endless washing of linen whose owners we don’t know. It’s not helping the fight”he said

@ anonymous 21.37 You obviously must be an illiterate or not well enlightened. Is it normal that after how long, nobody knows who owns the funds! Try to think before wasting your data in typing sh..t read and understand carefully before you post. How can Efcc and presidency not know or want to disclose who has the funds. I don't belong to any political party but as a human being you should be able to speak the truth @ all times. So the whistleblower doesn't know who has the flat but knows there was money there, are you serious and you open that gutter of a mouth to chat sh..t common. If you no dey shame, me dey shame for you.

With all due respect, this our man of God is almost a PDP man o

Bishop Kukah is clearly partisan & covertly supports the PDP. He was always a beneficiary of their bazaar type of government. Never heard him talk again looting/corruption. In fact, he advocated for an abandonment of the anti-corruption war.

I have so much respect for the Bishop.. what i observed with the him is that he talk about anything negative with this Government. he has so much hatred and displaying it to the extent of portrying himself as PDP. He should have allow the PDP to do the talking and speak as Bishop. i cannot see the difference between the PDP press release and the Bishop's statement. he support everything and anything Jonathan. During the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo he speak well of of Obasanjo and praised him to the latest and said we never had president like him (which i agreed on certain parameters). but Obasanjo parted ways with jonathan identified his weakness but Bishop Never admit that we had a bad administration as Jonathan just because it is PDP. what a pity of a clergy

Quite curiously, our Bishop has never spoken against those that stole monies, particularly persons that looted our funds in the last administration. Rather, our lord Bishop has been so critical about the anti corruption fight of the present regime.

Fresh check your facts and get it right. The Bishop's legacies speak for itself. Your views are quite opposite of who he is.
