Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi says he'll continue to accord respect to Oba Rilwan Akiolu

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said he will not stop being respectful to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, regardless of what may have happened at a social function they both attended recently. According to him, he wasn't bothered by Oba Akiolu’s action or inaction and still holds him in high esteem.
Adding that he is committed to ensuring unity among traditional rulers in the land. Oba Ogunwusi made this known through the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace on Wednesday. Oba Ogunwusi said:
“Nobody should castigate anybody” for doing what he did because of the position he holds and because of his age… Ooni would not stop to accord his colleagues and every category of people the respect they deserve.
The Ooni of Ife is not ready to make any official statement over what happened between him and the Oba of Lagos. He still holds Oba Akiolu in high esteem and what happened yesterday will not stop the Ooni from holding him in high esteem”

Idiot bastard, you talk like someone who's mother was absent during your formative years, you pick words that you have no inkling what they actually mean and you use them. It's your father if you had any, which I doubt seriously that is erratic and lunacy is in your entire generation,or how else do one explain your penchant for the continuous rubbish you hv now been known to vomit??? And to think that i was getting irritated with the way people were bashing your foolish head. Now I can see y. No one likes what the Oba did but must you use invectives, goat?? You were not trained at all. I pity your husband.

Mumu. Unecessary respect won't let yorubas be great. Igbos respect who deserve it..and that what is important in any great civilisation. Why not go abroad and look for who will respect you when you behave like crap. Respect my foot.

@Anonymous, What has Ibos got to do with this? So many Ibos took sides with Ooni. He had to say what he said because of his kind of person. He knew that incident has gone viral, so he needs to choose his words. I like him even though I am not a yoruba, he is a free spirited and minded Ooni. He is not pompous neither is he arrogant. He does his things in a modern way. If you are talking of tradition or respect, from the history of Ife people, there would have been war if it were in the olden days. so what are you blabbing about. Go get a life and brain cos you dont have one dummy.

As a yoruba man from ondo state. The hairachy of obas states that oba of ife is the king to all the kings in yoruba land.Oba Akiolu needs to reminded of that

It's not her fault, she's wasn't raised, she was dragged up. You just have to read deeper into the rubbish she writes, to realise she is several agbalumos short of a dozen.

Honestly, I wish the Igbos were as united as they are online, than they are offline..Biafra would have been achieved long ago..

Can't no we just comment without trading insults.

Anonymous said...

The point is that Igbos should shut up! You can't take sides or comment when Ur are ignorant.you will just appear foolish and you won't even know it.

I'm sorry to say this, but the Ooni of Ife just disrespected his office with this comment. If you don't understand and respect your office, how do you expect others to. He should not have made this statement, people can speculate and make their comments, but the matter should be resolved at the throne room and not trying to raise your morals on social media...

Anonymous said...

Maybe Igbo told Akiolu to misbehave.

Michael Abe 3D Genius said...

its true this could have been bloody in the past. however, we are in modern age and age is amongst the criteria for respect which Ooni is pointing. likewise Ooni's position accords respect. The Lagos Oba may have a reason but he should also release a statement so that it wont result in a cold war. the ruler does not respect age if he can withstand the turmoil like the N korean president.
