Jega disappointed me on how he conducted the 2015 general election- GEJ says

In a book scheduled to be launched on Friday April 28th, former spokesperson of late President Musa Yar'Adua and Chairman of Thisday editorial board, Segun Adeniyi, revealed that Former President Goodluck Jonathan was unhappy with the manner former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, went about conducting the 2015 general election which he lost in to President Buhari. Part of the book quotes Jonathan to have said;

“I was disappointed by Jega because I still cannot understand what was propelling him to act the way he did in the weeks preceding the election. As at the first week in February 2015 when about 40 percent of Nigerians had not collected their PVCs, Jega said INEC was ready to conduct an election in which millions of people would be disenfranchised.”
Jonathan is also quoted to have accused that Americans were urging Jega to go on with the elections despite the fact that some Nigerians had not collected their voters card.
“Of course, the Americans were encouraging him to go ahead yet they would never do such a thing in their own country. How could we have cynically disenfranchised about a third of our registered voters for no fault of theirs and still call that a credible election? The interesting thing was that the opposition also supported the idea of going on with the election that was bound to end in confusion” he said
Jonathan in the book defended his decision to postpone the election by six weeks.
“When the military and security chiefs demanded for more time to deal with the insurgency, the reasons were genuine. As at February 2015, it would have been very difficult to vote in Gombe, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. But moment all the arms and ammunition that had been ordered finally arrived, the military was able to use them to degrade the capacity of Boko Haram to the level in which they posed the threat to the election.”

I like Goodluck Jonathan, and I don't like Buhari's policies, including his marginalization of Ndigbo, christians and the south/south. But to be fair, Jonathan's govt was corruption friendly.

I try very hard to like GEJ but he just keeps proving his incompetence all the time. He has even implicated himself with this statement. First he said that he didn't want the election to hold in February so he was angry with Jega for deciding to go ahead with the elections. Then suddenly the defence chiefs came and told him that elections cant hold in the Northeast due to security concerns so based on that he used his powers as President to postpone the election for security reasons and there was nothing Jega could do about it. This guy is just so pathetic. At the end of the day he still lost woefully. I dont even understand what he means by 40% of Nigerians hadn't collected their PVC and for that reason election should be postponed. That's just very silly talk. So you will keep postponing elections till everyone collects their PVC? Two years after the election now millions of PVC's are still uncollected so maybe we should have been postponing the election for the past 2 years

abeg make we hear word Mr. "stealing is not corruption". Of course every progressive person, country and institution had become tired of your corrupt government and they could no longer wait to kick you out, That is why Jega acted as he did.

After election results were announced, GEJ called to congratulate Buhari on his win and subsequently handed over. That's all the history that matters.

The truth is that jega made it easier for the opposition to win. GEJ should have used his powers and military to cancel the election even when his pvc didn't work. But he smiled and went on. He was indeed a hero. Buhari a tyrant won't do such.

Hero. For where? Jonathan has a deceptive look but he's a criminal. They milked Nigeria dry. Every politician that has a hand in the recession we are going through will never find God's favor and will never find peace in Jesus name. Amen.
