Court hands cash EFCC discovered in Lagos to Federal Govt

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that the $38million, N23million and £27,000, recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a residential building located at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi be temporarily forfeited to the Nigerian government.

In a ruling presided by Justice Muslim Hassan this afternoon, he ordered that the funds be handed over to the Federal Government pending when the owner surfaces to make a court case against the order. The case was adjourned until May 5, 2017.

All these politically stage managed discoveries of huge sums of money by EFCC is becoming suspicious and an affrontry on the psych of Hungary Nigerians. If these discoveries are anything to go by, then the sum put together is more than enough to bring down the hunger in the land. Its time the FG began to allow Nigerians feel direct impact of these enormous sums of monies alleged to have been stollen.

It is so sad that so much money belonged to an individual in a country with so much suffering. May God help us all. I pray the government will make good use of the monies recovered.

We pray he money confiscated be used judiciously. It will be confiscated from one criminal and another criminal will still them again.

Let it not be stolen by another criminal again.

Linda, why are you always writing 38 million dollars when it's actually 43.4 million dollars. Abi you know something that we don't know? EFCC that counted the cash confirmed it is actually 43.4 million dollars.

Hmmm nigerians should shine their eyes. All these are gimmicks.

@Charles I completely agree with u. All these are political gimmicks and Nigerians are very gullible set of people. Please fellow Nigerian be wise and think.if i am not mistaken,9m dollars was recovered somewhere, now this and etc. After this noise what next.Shouldn't we be out of reccession by now with all the recovered money. Yet Nigerians are hungry, nothing is working in d country, people are committing suicide here and there and what they do is to plant money somewhere and announce they have recovered money stollen. Enough of this nonsense.

We know d way they operate, giving credit to themselves against 2019. But one thing is still clear, there is hunger in d land, the poor masses are suffering, unemployment is on the increase, price of food is higher than ever. They think all these pranks will get them any where, showing us stacks of money in different currencies, eh 27, 800 pounds, eh 43.4 m dollars. Since they came into power they have bn saying they recovered this amount, that amount, yet no visible and tangible change they promised us. Yeye dey smell.
