'There's no law against me not wearing Uniform' - Customs boss, Hameed Ali tells Senate

Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, arrived the National Assembly without wearing his Customs uniform, instead arriving in mufti. When asked why he's not putting on his uniform by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, he said, 'There's no law against me not wearing Uniform'

You guys should impeach that custom boss. What do you expect your subordinate to do when you are not law abiding. If he claims there is no law against him not wearing uniform. Then, the reason for having a uniform is defeated

I didn't really blame him, I can only blame the person that appointed someone who is not a custome officer to be their boss.
You can't expect him to where the uniform, if he does what rank will he put?

Wow this guy has balls can you imagine such disrespect for the second arm of the government. He should be quarried because he deliberately disobeyed their request to wear a uniform. Let me give this example.... If you no wear nysc(which i think has lost its purpose) uniform to CDS dem no go fine and chase you home? The Comptroller should be proud of his uniform cause of the respect given to his office. I've said my own let them keep on doing what they like we no get law for 9ja

The issue of Col Ali wearing uniform should not take centre stage amidst myriads of national problems. The law makers are more affected by the duty issue being introduced. They have turn around to be vindictive because they know many of their ill-gotten cars would be grounded.
After all it's the lawmakers who are granted waivers from ports and borders. Most of them time Customs auction sales to buy expensive cars seized from importers and fellow Nigerians for as little as 30,000# Shame on selfish lawmakers !

You are talking about law when you don't even understand it.

Is there any law that states that he must wear his uniform as an appointed DG? No.

So going by the law, he is acting within his right.

Seems like you don't know the power of the senate, so you get a bit educated he's attached to that uniform so he must honor it
