Medical doctor who jumped into lagoon from 3rd mainland bridge, attempted suicide four years ago

It has been revealed that Medical doctor, Dr Allwell Orji who committed suicide on Sunday, 19th March, 2017 by jumping into the lagoon from 3rd mainland bridge had attempted suicide a number of times.
According to Sun News, Dr  Orji had tried jumping down from the family's two-storey building four years but was saved after their neighbours intervened.

"Four years ago he attempted to kill himself and, thereafter, had tried doing so on a number of times, since then, his family had been monitoring him. We don’t know the kind of sickness he was suffering from, but we knew he was being monitored. That was why he was assigned a driver to take him around" a man who pleaded anonymity said.
The doctor and his family have been living on the street, Odunukan Street, Ebute-Ejigbo, off Morroco Road, near University of Lagos for years and lost his dad four years ago.
“He was such a gentle boy, who never made any trouble.  His family has lived on this street for long; his father died four years ago. Perhaps the driver who drove him didn’t know about his condition because he was engaged about three months ago.”
Another neighbour said some concerned people had gone to the police pleading for the driver’s release as he was innocent and had no part in his former employer’s death.
Daily Sun also spoke to some medical doctors at Mount Sinai hospital where the doctor worked before he took his life. The Chief medical director, Dr. Adedoyin Adeniran said they can't conclude he is dead until his body is found. “We don’t want to conclude that he is gone, more so when his body has not been found. It is only his family that can speak on that,” he said.

A non medical staff who wanted to remain anonymous spoke highly of the doctor describing him as the patient's' favourite
"Dr. Orji was such a dedicated person. He was the firstborn of his family. He was a thoroughbred doctor who paid profound attention to the very minute things in Medicine. He was such a quiet person and at the same time very active. He was most preferred by our patients. In fact, when some patients came here and he had not arrived, they would wait for him. He was sure to get to the root of things by asking penetrating questions. That was his trademark and why he was so much loved. Last Friday, he was here and we all played with him. We jocularly asked him to go and eat but he said he was going to see his patients in the ward. But we literally forced him to do so,” she said.
Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, The General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management (LASEMA),  who was at the scene of the suicide incident, said they were still searching the waterways.
“We have expanded our search to go further than where it happened. We engaged local fishermen and divers. Also assisting are the Lagos Ferry Services and the Lagos Waterways Agency patrol boats, which were deployed to the waterways. We have informed the residents to look out for floating bodies, and we have also contacted the family and they are still in shock,” he said.
A LASEMA official also at the scene of the incident stated the distance at which he jumped into the lagoon will make him unconscious immediately he hit his head in the water because the water would feel like stone when it make contact with his head. She also stated that they were no longer looking at the incident as a rescue mission but a recovery mission.

Nigerians can hide things too much, even things that are not supposed to be hidden. They should have informed driver about the doctor's health but because they decided to make it a secret.

Confusion, frustration, brutish, nasty etc are all ingredients of life. It can come from any angle. The happiness we think we enjoy in this life can be taking our by sorrow just in a seconds.. Life is always life. The living should always be a living to their fellow. It's so painful...the person that saw it happened said"how she wished she could hold him in his hands and ask him whats the problem was". So touching... The question now is how many down trodden and less advantaged people around us have we asked how is life... May God help our society from unkniw

what??? He is my doctor o. i just saw that he worked at Mount Sinai and it clicked cos i know i've seen his name somewhere. oh Lord!!! He is such a gentle and quiet man, although he asks a lot of questions....very ancestral questions if i may add. He did look suspicious at times, talks slowly and kinda shy. May his soul rest in peace. Amen

Why have they arrested the driver? How many seconds does it take to jump from the bridge into the lagoon? The guy may have told the driver that he wanted to pee or something. So the driver will have a hand in it and not flee the scene before people gather? Only in nigeria shit like this happens

Allegedly,he was born with sickle cell anaemia. He was depressed about his condition and was not not a fully confirmed staff at the Mount Sinai hospital where he worked which he felt was due to his condition.
On the said day, he got a call relieving him from his job, hence the suicide. This is all heresay though. Source not verified.

It's so sad and unfortunate.
Moreso, I see no reason why the Driver should be in detention till now if the victim family already knew what their son was like

@Livv Stream's Blog: You are an imbecile. One's depression or neurotic state does not mean they are psychotic and a danger to the public. Shame on you. Did you read the article at all? What I noted immediately was that his suicidal attempts commenced following his father's death. Trauma such as losing someone can sometimes cause mental challenges. He was a brilliant physician who loved his patients and his work or he would have been fired. What sort of "background check" could possibly detect a pathology that would probably not manifest for decades... you are a fool. Your opinion of humanity is warped; no wonder nobody patronizes your blog.

Mental health issues can start at anytime. Doing a check doesn't immune anyone from the realities of mental health problems.

He may not be dead, the water may wave him to a near by village, and because he might nock his head on a stone, he may be unconscious where ever the water carry him to and that may cause him memory lost, that he can't remember him self, he may not be dead
