Ibrahim Magu reacts to his rejection by the senate, says he will fight corruption until his last day in office

EFCC acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, says despite his rejection by the senate today, he will continue in his fight against corruption till his last day in office. Speaking with a coalition of civil society groups at the entrance to the National Assembly immediately after his rejection by the senators, Magu said.

"My priority is to fight corruption. My confirmation has not changed anything. We have always been on duty I will work until the last day whether confirmation or no confirmation. The greatest violation against human right is crime against the society and the humanity but everybody has a duty and responsibility to fight corruption and I also has a responsibility. I assure you that we will fight to finish. We will never be deterred because what we are doing is trying to investigate what has gone before and protect the future of our children and our future generation. So, if we don’t work today and fight against corruption, the future is not guaranteed, the future of our children is not guaranteed.  So, we must wake up, where ever you find yourself, fight corruption. Anytime you discover that I am corrupt, expose me.”
Reacting to allegations made against him by the DSS which largely led to his rejection by the senate, Magu said
"Those allegations can not stand the test of time because they can not be proven. You know, you can’t just raise mere allegations without giving the person opportunity to answer you. There is issue of fundamental human right and the right of fair hearing is there. Up till this time, DSS has not called me and I am even surprised that the same report is coming back and this time around it is signed by somebody. I doubt the genuineness of that report. But I think we need to identify those who have the interest of this country at heart.”

Your session with them was not inspiring. I would have been shocked if they approved. Simple questions you did not answer sir.

There's an Igbo adage that says,'Ogbu mma anaghi ekwe ka ewere mma gaa ya na-azu'. How can you be talking of mere allegations, fundamental human rights and fair hearing when you don't observe it? You know nothing about it therefore do not talk about. The music you play for others to dance must be good for you to dance as well. Oga don't complain. The Nig Senate did a good job!

Am very sure you are not a Nigerian. I don't care which tribe is in any position in this country, provided we will see results that will revive the glory of Nigeria. We have the celebrating independence since 1960. It is time to stop marrying and face good work that will move this nation forward. As a Matter of fact, activist need to come out and speak the voice of Nigerian. Those corrupt members will never support any thing that will retard them. I don't have any confidence in the Senate of Nigeria. They only speak for themselves and their pockets. It is time for us to speak for ourselves. WE WANT MAGU

The Nigerian Senate I'd the most corrupt institution in Nigeria. I'm not shocked they shamelessly are trying to get rid of Mr Magu, the one man, since Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, that has tried to truthfully fight the hedraheaded monster called corruption in Nigeria. And like Ribadu, they want to humiliate him out. Your end will not be pleasant, all of you sitting in that Senate and bleeding Nigeria to death. Leeches! Your end will be brutal and painful.
Mr Magu, God bless you, sir. You've done your best.

Really do not have anything against Magu but I was not impressed. He had the opportunity to sell himself to Nigerians but missed it. Without DSS report against him, he was not utterly convincing as regards his responses to questions thrown at him. He had the floor but failed to deliver. Sorry man.

Magu , just shut up and pack your things, more than half of efcc staff are jubilating because you weren't confirmed. Go and check your promotions in efcc since you were made the chairman, God no dey sleep , tribalistic idiot. I thank God for someone like Dino Melaye, you made it clear that the integrity of the Senate us at stake ,if they confirm you.

Fighting corruption is good, but you can't fight it without the rule of law. Your response to questions was poor.

Even without the DSS report, Magu failed woefully to answer questions. Even this his statement reveals he is sub standard. His brief as efcc chair is to detect, investigate, treat, prevent, and protect Nigerians from economic and financial crimes. Not this stupid "fight corruption" mantra that the Buhari-Osinbajo Dullardeens are hiding their political attacks behind. A Magu that cannot provide a simple tally of loot recovery is not fit to lead any crime fighting agency. He is probably stealing.
