Fufu is killing Africans - Ghanaian pastor, Mensah Otabil says

Pastor Mensah Otabil, the Founder of the International Central Gospel Church in Ghana, has said that 'fufu' is gradually killing Africans. According to the pastor, who was speaking at the National Convocation of the 2017 Springboard Roadshow, where he highlighted the need for a change in the attitudes of Africans, he said the process in which fufu is being made was difficult and unhygienic.
'Any food that if you have to eat you'll have to punish yourself, what's the sense in it? And the annoying thing is when you're pounding, the sweat will be going in and will be mixed, and even in the mortar, there are all kinds of bacteria in the corners.

This is an ecosystem for bacteria, 5 years and we are still pounding and people will say, that's what we like.
'It's killing us, because you know Africans we don't know what kills us, the thing is killing us but you say it's a witch because we never identify objectively the cause of the problem. Come to think of it, this fufu in this mortar is not sanitized , what impact does it have on our lives?' He added.

Ah Oga pastor fufu has been saving lives especially in this recession. If so disturbed about Africans hygiene, how about donating 75% of your church's offering/tithe towards alleviating poverty in Nigeria. Its money from this same fufu that people bring to church as offerings/tithe, why didn't you reject it?

He mentioned fufu in mortar! Can someone tell him that in Nigeria most people do not pound their fufu like the Ghanaians therefore less fear of bacteria. Our fufu is clean and Ok but too much consumption is not good! Anyway, he should show scientific research to back his claims, but he is one of my favourite TV Pastors like Dr Sola Fola-Alade, Pastor Uzor, Pastor Bakare and Rev. Eastwood Anaba.

For fufu to be made, needs the activities of some important microorganisms that reduces the toxic substances of the raw cassava itself. The fufu you ate was made in purely unhygienic environment that's why u ended up purging and it's the harmful microorganisms(cus there's beneficial too) present in that fufu dat led to that. It's not in all places that it's processing is unhygienic. Although I have never ended up purging from it, you just have to be careful where you get your food from.

It must be from where u got it.or either the soup u used for it

Ghana fufu is made differently from Nigerian Fufu. firstly, our fufu is left for days to ferment. But Ghana fufu is boiled and pounded same time. So tell your people to adopt Nigeria style.
