"We will rape you if you don't give us the correct ATM pin"- LIB reader shares her experience with armed robbers at Fadeyi

A Female LIB reader was attacked by some robbers this morning at Fadeyi road, Lagos. Narrating the sad and traumatic experience, she said:
"I left my house at Fadeyi at about 5.50am this morning and entered a bus heading to Costain so I could stop at Barracks to join my colleague. As I entered the bus, I was at peace because I noticed there was a man wearing an Army uniform in front and felt the bus was secured.
Few minutes after I settled down, one of the men behind me grabbed my neck, another one collected my phone, wallet and then they started asking me where my ATM card was and how much I have in my account?
They asked me for my ATM pin but I gave them a fake one. They then called on someone to verify if it was correct. The person at the other end told them that the pin wasn't correct. One of them started beating me. Another one then told me they will rape me if I don't give them the right pin. The one wearing an Army uniform brought out his gun and pointed it at me, threatening he would shoot me if I don't give them the right pin. I gave them the correct pin and they called their accomplice who then confirmed that it was the correct one. They also took my Laptop, phone and then gave me N3,000 for transport. They dropped me somewhere in Apapa.

I quickly tried to leave the area I was dropped off at and also tried to contact my bank to block the stolen ATM. It was however late as the money in my bank account had been cleared off."

The same thing happened to my brother some months ago around Fadeyi-Yaba axis. They beat me black blue that we could barely recognize him. The funny thing is that the police are even aware of all these happenings as it occurs regularly. The government just need to do something about these one chance people.

Everybody in this country will soon own a firearm, its getting more annoying by the day. I can’t fold my hands to see my fellow man intimidate and go away with my hard earned cash and prosperity. And for the Nigerian Government the earlier she accept the fact that Jungle Justice has come to stay the better for them. My sister thank God for ur life, may God replace all that u'v lost to those satanic minded.

Nemesis will catch up with them very soon. Everyday is for the thief, but one day for the owner of the house. Our security agencies should rise up to the new challenge on these criminals.

Nigerian banks can do better. We like to copy western world but we don't copy their economic, financial, educational, health or security strategies. In the USA I went to my pharmacy to get my prescribed medicine my card was declined (I was so embarrassed and angry)knowing I had more than enough to pay for my prescriptions after several attempts I called my bank. I was told there is an unusual withdrawal activity in my account so they had to freeze it.They told me due to my history with them I never withdraw so much at once they decided to block it thinking it's financial fraud. Can our Nigerian banks think of ways of helping us?.So that when people even still your ATM they can't withdrawn more than a certain amount (because if they don't get money they will think the victim gave a fake pin number and could hurt them). #AmJustSaying.

@Beautiful: Gtbank does that. It's called predictive analytics for fraud detection. Don't know about other banks though but I and my colleagues have witnessed it for Gtbank. You later get an email alert requesting you to call customer care for verification.

It's easier said than done,Nigeria is not sophisticated to track that out for u,only if u are connected',I have seen a case whereby someone transferred moni to a fake friend dt asked for a loan, when they went to the bank to asked if the owner of the account the money was transferred to can be invited!the bank said they can't give that information!
Why fear of unknown, kidnappers or assassins,so what do u do,as a good Nigeria citizen, you let it pass and wait for vengeance of God.
