Purple Men’s Conference 'Men For 5050'

Purple’s mission is to positively shape the way young women and men view themselves and oneanother. They want a world where women and men work together, where every opinion counts, and where all are free to be who they want to be...

The Purple Men’s Conference themed Men For 5050 was a successful event that attracted over 300 men from various fields – the clergy, traditional rulership, politics etc.

The two-day event kicked offwith a panel on Journeys of Personal Transformation for Gender Justice. Panelists includedFormer Minister of Power Prof.Chinedu Nebo,Sheik Muhammad Bin Uthman, Pastor Sam Aiyedogbon of Realm Of Glory International Church, HonourableYeyeAdenike,Reverend Johnny Oniezu and Igwe Apostle Dr.Chimereze Linus Pius. A lively audience discussion followed.

Afterwards, a break out session where participants from all four key states were divided into groups to share their experiences on issues such as women’s leadership, decision making, responsible parenting and healthy relationships took place.

Day two was not short of excitement either. The discussion mainly focused on action planning to further promote the gender justice cause. The Purple Team visited each break out group to educate them on all that the 50/50 Campaign has achieved over the past few months.
Next, each team was tasked with developing a strategy that will be most effective in their state.
Over 300 attendees are going back to their communities to start ensuring that girls and women reach their full potential.

The men also designed an actionable plan to help eliminate violence against women. It will be launched during the 16 Days of Activism programme from November 25th - December 10th, 2016.
The event also garnered a lot of attention online. To see more pictures and videos, follow the hashtag #Men5050 or visit iampurple.ng to take the pledge today.
