Photos: Dad of 2 year old girl expelled by school after her parents reported injury on her face, writes to Lagos Govt

Tunde Etim-Esin‎, the father of the injured little girl, wrote this open letter/.petition to the Lagos State Government, seeking for help on the alleged negligence of Remmok School and the violation of the rights of their child. Must Read:
A Petition against Remmok School on account of their gross negligence and child right violation.
Dear Sir / Ma,The above subject refers My 30 month old daughter, Miss Doxa Etim-Esin is a Kindergaten 2 student of the above named school situated at 57, Sarah Faboyede Street, Bucknor Estate, Transformer Bus Stop, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Lagos .
Apart from being in the school within school ours, we also paid for after school care to be provided for her until we pick her up later in the evening.

On Tuesday, October 25, 2016, I got to the school premises at about 7.30pm and upon checking her body before picking her up from there, i noticed her right eye was bleeding. I was alarmed! I beckoned on the small boy she was left with and all he could say was...."I dont know what happened. It's not our fault."

At this point, I was left with no other option but to raise an alarm. The proprietress' daughter came out and maintained that whatever happened to my daughter was not their fault. At this point, I was so traumatised to keep calm. I kept demanding for explanations but got none. The proprietress' husband came out at that point to say I had no right shouting in his premises. I explained that whatever must have happened was big enough to warrant my raising an alarm. He ordered me out of his residence. On of the daughters also flung my child's school bags at me insisting the accident was not their fault.
I reported the issue to the nearest police station and the next day, the school management was invited. Based on their arrogant disposition, the DPO charged the teacher and she was detained. A few hours later she was released. After this scenario, we made it plane that our displeasure was basically the fact that a 30Months child had an accident where adults were around and was left without even first aid treatment for the next 5hours.

After the kid resumed school, we started getting signals that no one ever paid any form of attention to her. we doubt she had been allowed to stay in her right class. Being that the term was nearly over, we had planned to move her to a new school in the new term.

To our greatest surprise, the school, on Monday, November 7, 2016 inserted a dismissal letter in her school bag which was to be effective the very next day.

This is our concern. How can a school be so heartless towards children? Where was she supposed to be the next day? Did they make any arrangement or provision for a smooth transfer for the child? She is supposed to be in school with the other kids but she's been denied that right.

Remmok School is not fit to keep children since they even admitted they do not have what it takes to take care of them and keep them safe. The Proprietress equally admitted she is not knowledgeable in running a school.

We need justice for our little girl. We have been traumatized, as well as hospitalized throughout this incidence. We want the school to take responsibility for all the hospital and time expenses we have borne and also bear the cost of the school fees of the new school she will be enrolled in.

We also plead with the Ministry of Education to review Remmok's license to run a school.

If these are considered, we shall be grateful, on behalf of Miss Doxa Etim-Esin.

Looking forward to your assistance.

Kind regards,

Tunde Etim-Esin

Remok school is a devilish school I can see, if you have your kida there, remove them fast, the Internet never forgets, the school name will forever be on the Internet as a bad school.

Two wrongs can't make a right. They admitted their fault. Move on parent they don't want wahala that you are pulling. Don't spend money posting here when you can donate first aid as a parent. Change begins with you.

This is totally unacceptable, see what they did to this child,Emeka Ugwonye I trust you to do something very fast.

You must definitely be a chichin aka bed bug Mr Etim. If you so cares about your child why pick her up by 7:30pm. I am sure you were and still is a big nuisance.

that wicked person shouting "where is the mother?" should try to think before typing. that you are fortunate to run your business does not mean that every woman in Nigeria can. When she leaves her office at three, will you help the family pay their bills? The man and his wife clearly have an understanding! face your own home! A child can sustain an injury in school at anytime of the day

Wat kinda parent will leave dere child in Skool till 7:30pm,a child should be home latest 3pm, since money is more important to you and wife than ur own child, pls stop complaining and care for your child, a child needs parental love not from dere aunties in Skool, this should be a wake up call.

I am sure dat all of you that are abusing the school & proprietor did not even bother to read the supposed expulsion letter. The parents of this child are troublemakers. There are several ways this child could have sustained this injury without fault from the kids handlers.. kids play a lot & rough too. Imagine shutting down a school because of such an incidence even after the teacher responsible has been released. Abegii.. this matter is over bloated!! So if na public school nko?? Will they shut it down too?? Abeg mk dis parents & all these bad belle ignorant "commenters" take several seats near suckaway joor!!

Anonymous said...

Madam pls shut up. If you cant stand up for your right leave people who can. If its your child I'm very sure your story will change. #resistingtheurgetoinsultyou

Very arrogant school with no professional training. An apology and a show of remorse is all it would take. A parent has a right to be angry seeing their child like that. They pay for that service, it's not free or a favor. Then for them not to contact d parent immediately after the incident or even giving first aid? Terribe school. Shut it down!

For mama wey dey close biz by 3 go attend toh children. Learn to count your blessings and spare others who don't have the same grace as you. Too judgemental with no restraint or any thoughts for others who are out there struggling to make a life for their family. Humility isn't so hard o. You can start by just deciding to try.

You are an idiot and this type of thinking is why Nigeria is where it is now

Going by the disposition of the school, to the point of dismissing the child as against taking responsibility for their inadequacies, its clear they have no business running a school.A few weeks ago another 3 year bite my 2 year old and the school apologised sooooooo much I got tired of their apologies. They took responsibility cos its their job to monitor the children while they are in school.

We are saying he has gone too far??? if the child had died would we be talking like this. I support him all the way cos if its not nipped in the bud, it WILL happen again. And the comment about the mother not being there, trust me no 'real' parent wants to leave their child especially not mothers. Would you rather she stayed home and the child starved? Do you know if the father earns enough to support the family alone? Lets not be insensitive in the name of dropping comments cos you don't know them personally and you dont know their story nor their situation. Remember tomorrow it could be your own child... be wise

Anonymous said...

I read some comments and i wonder what sort of human beings write them
I can only say most posting negative comments do not have kids and have never been responsible for anyone or anything in their lives
Running your mouths on this blog over an injury to a 2yr old in a school that was paid to look after her.
so what if your ward was in a boarding facility and you came over and found that this child had been injured with no explanation whatsoever from the school
You'd simply move on right?
Some of you are just morons, no common sense
Do you know what parents go through just to take care of their kids?
Did you even stop to ask why the parents are coming to pick her so late?
Am pretty sure some of you spewing thrash would ask why parents even allow their kids in school buses, why dont they take the kids to school themselves
But when you migrate to the US or Canada you hail the school system for their efforts.
I pray those of you who are blaming this man for taking such steps will be involved in similar circumstances and then maybe you'll understand his plight.
And as for you linda ikeji, i think the time has come for you to censor some of these pointless comments, show that you are a responsible person and not just a freak who likes smut.

This sums it up. Accidents do happen but how they are handled afterwards is key. The school did not live up to its duty of care and from what I see they were rather insensitive to the concerns of the parent. I believe if they had given the child first aid and taken more responsibility we would not have even heard of this incident.

Pride is the reason why this matter was aggravated. I cant imagine a child having such a wound on her face and no adult was kind enough to at least clean off the blood. That is pure wickedness. So how do they think other parents can leave thier kids in the school. The teacher might have been negligent but it was the duty of the owner of the school or whoever manages the school to make amends and try to accomodate the child instead of this arrogant behaviour. Maybe they have been maltreating other children whose parents take their shits, that was why they thought they could do that. If this is to be abroad, the school will pay thro thier nose and loose thier operating license so at the end of the day, who lost. Pride and wickedness is the sin of this school and they should reap the fruit they asked for. Not everybody should be taking care of children. if you dont have the patience and compassion why take up the job in the first place.
