Corp member shares her experience with 'one chance' people

A corp member, Dumbiri Efe Bukola narrated her experience in the hands of the notorious 'one chance' people in Akure. The incident which occurred Monday at Akure fortunately ended well as she dropped from the vehicle before any harm could be done to her. Read her story below:

This was me yesterday morning, hale and hearty , full of life before I stepped out to work not knowing of the danger that lies ahead...... as I closed from work, took a bike to a supermarket called NAO along cathedral Akure, after picking few stuffs i needed, I crossed to the other side to board a taxi to my estate called Ijapo here in Akure, then I waved this taxi and the driver stopped , I moved closer and told him ijapo then he asked me to get in, inside the car I met two already seated at the back, then one at the front seats with the driver making 4, we became 5 plus me but after a few second of driving a guy from the back alighted, leaving two of us at the back sit, then the guy with me at the back sit told the driver to pack that he wants to drop too and the driver asked, bro! Are you the owner of the Ghana must go filled with dollars at the booth, the guy replied yes and the driver said il drive you to our chairman at the garage, you want to put me in trouble abi? You entered my taxi with such big amount of money without telling me,
Immediately I told the driver what right has he got to open a passengers bag, b4 I finished this statement the guy who claimed to own the bag started crying, begging the driver not to expose him , that he works with one Alhaji at Lagos who sells gold and change dollars then Alhaji just died and everyone absconded with what they like, that inside the bag he had 1.5m dollars.
Immediately my guardian angel appear and instructed me to look at the side mirror of both front seat I did, behold the first guy had scar all over his face and the driver's eyeball covered in blood but already healing. Immediately I shouted with my whole strength "Drop me now!!! he said Aunty you need to follow us, today is our lucky day, this guy will settle us. Again I yelled "I say Drop me now!!!! Then he parked drop me off on motion around oja market and zoomed off. God saved me! Then people gathered round me and started sharing thier experiences, a woman told me that normally they have jazzed me but it wasn't effective on me that, as I entered the taxi I am suppose to agree with them the next thing il find myself in a bush! After Rapping me turn by turn, they will take my naked pic, give me other concoction to swallow, dispose me off my valuables, drive me at night to an ATM, where il withdraw all my money for them, and if I am from a rich family they will set me free but they'll be calling me to bring them huge amount of money or threaten to release the pics to social media , and if i am not from a rich family, that's how they'll sell to the ritualistic , or do the cutting themselves.
I was in shock, crying and weeping profusely as I thank my father In Heaven for not making my years of suffer go down just like that. If you're within Akure please becareful, they are roaming the streets freely, I wonder what the force men are doing about this, if you go out and see 20taxis, I assure you 6 to 7 of them are set of this guyz! Fellow corpers becareful, everyone at Akure open your eyes and don't let love of money make you fall victim, I heard lots of people are missing , some are found with their hair scrapped , while some are dead with many parts missing.
Shine your eyes well, am yet to recover from the shock, glory to God, to my guardian Angel and to my mother who pray ceaselessly day and night for me. We shall not mourn ourselves in the remaining of the year and the years a ahead.

This format has been used for decades. They weren't 'one chance' people...they were con-artists that con greedy people out of their money. The long and short of it is that they get people enticed in their dollar or big money story, and then tell the person they can help him/her get as much money too if he only dropped maybe 50-100k...a lot of people fall for this. I know a dude in my area that withdrew 30k from his account thinking he would get like 300k out of the deal. They work on people's greed and longing for fast cash.

So they are still at this game ?
I remember my encounter with them at Enugu. Coming from Port Harcourt, I was waiting for cab when one cab with 2 guys in it stopped & asked me to board .I told him I want drop and he said that the guys gonna drop after 103 battalion bus stop.
I said OK and got in . Few steps of our driving out, One of them got down and paid with dollarsssssssssssss & backed it up with Obiagu accents !
Hian oh...driver begin yell, asking what kind of trouble is this, that he don't know anything about 'Big dollars' NA SO !. I told the driver to please lemme get down all this phone on the phone talking to my sister and reporting what was unfolding before my eyes in the most funny, childish way ! .
The next thing, rain started falling from the dollar dropper eyes o o !
Hian...oh,Nnenna don enter one chance today.
That I should please not leave him with those guys ,that he trust me and I should him because they might kill him EZIOKWU ???(For my mind I was like God punish you,no be you and dem siddon for taxi before I enter?) The whole thing was kinda amusing to me because their acting sucks real bad.

I asked him who he was and his problem & bros begin nack tori that he's an importer from Togo and was in Nigeria to supply laptops, phones and gold but can't trace the buyer again (eziokwu ? You dey do supply/importing on a Sunday for naija and you no collect information ni na for road you dey supply your own ? Okay o o )
I said ok, lemme me call dad.I was about to make the call when the driver that was the first to ask me to join in duping the mugu asked me who dad was. I said A.C of police,at headquarters.
Music come change. Mr Togo importer/exporter begin nack my papa native dialect for me,even speak am pass my granny for villa. the accent just Waka go !
He shouted at me that I should get dow. Me I said no o o that I must help him because I don't want his blood on my head if they kill him as he feared. Moreover that he's not the driver that owns the cab and that I want dad to ask his boys to come and give him protection and that I will be here with them till they get here according to dad. MR Togo come confess say na him cab ! So he drove from Togo to "nigirie" with a 1970 something Toyota Camry? GBAM!
The 3 bubble heads got down from the taxi , crossed to the other side of the road and disappeared like a kite on a windy day. I got down & board a bus back my base.
My people, I ran into Mr Togo again after 3 months and he was about to play same music with me,this time,he was a pastor from Afghanistan and a dead very rich man gave him gold that's up to 20million dollars before he was killed by American army and he don't know where to start since he want to give it all out to the motherless babies homes and prisons.
I asked him how far about the other gold, laptops and phone on him the other day ?
His expression registered fear and shock. I reminded him how we met and as usual, he crossed the street and vanished like the bubble head he was!
I can't believe they still operate with same shit.
May our good lord deliver us from all these men and boy's mentality in oh !

@second Anonymous, nothing happened to the guy that withdrew 30k, they just took his money and told him to come back to the place they went to meet a man the next day. And when he went there to collect the 300k he was promised, there was no one there. They worked on his greed. It was all a con...no jazz needed. We still laugh about it when I ever I see him.

The way they got him was that they had a fine innocent looking girl in their clique, and she went to the ATM to withdraw money for the money doubling too...but my friend didn't know they were all working as a team...he was the target and it was all a con from when they started talking about big bag of money in the boot to everyone acting like they didn't know each other.

I have heard this same format of con being used as far back as 1992. I wonder why it still works. I think more people need to know about it. As a rule, I don't even talk to anyone in public transportation...any thing that sounds too good to be true, truly is too good to be true.

Auntie, you were lucky they allowed you to get down; my neighbour was pushed from a moving car between berger and banex junction and sustained severe injuries.

I entered one such cab between the junction of Churchgate Towers and Area 10 Post Office. The fools were going back and forth, talking about the goods that the one with a fake french accent brought for Hajia and what he is going to do now that he can't find Hajia. I didn't open my mouth until the cab stopped just before AMAC and the middle-aged, decent looking driver said "we" have to drive to Wuse market and check the goods out. Then the bell dropped. I just opened the cab door and got out. I considered myself really lucky because my boss had given me cash to deposit for him at an Area 3 bank.
I entered another one along Aminu Kano way, this time, it was a taxi painted in the official green colour of Abuja taxis and I felt somewhat confident. There was a woman at the back with one lanky guy. The car had barely moved three houses before the sweaty, godforsaken driver said, "that money in the boot, you must explain how you got it". As soon as I heard those words I told them to stop the car and I got down.
The next one happened after I boarded a cab at Berger, also with three people inside. As soon as the idiot at the back started saying the money in the boot, I told them to stop the car. The encounter left me shaken because they started shouting abuses at me and I was shouting back, wondering how these people who were not youngsters but middle-aged men (and that woman earlier) could have the heart to do such things.
Before you start asking whether na only me waka come, I have since heared of people getting pushed out of speeding vehicles or being attacked by people hiding in the boot and I realised how very lucky I was that those charlatans even allowed me to get down.
