Yes alafia,coker,odun-ade and alaba bus/stop at early morning and at night it is very risky to pass because of these so call thieves waiting for those to rob...it is my area and i know what there are capable of.

So sad I must say. I believe community policing is still our best option in Nigeria. Members of any community should have vigilante groups and should Neva wait for the Nigerian police.

Free born you don't make sense at all. Back to the writer, well... it's true. Only when one has something that belongs to you taken forcefully from you and with death threats coming with it or when someone close to you had been killed over nothing that's when you might not really pity these criminals. If only our country will start taking her citizens life and security seriously all these things won't even happen. May God be with us!

Jungle justice is veeery but these thieves no send, they take lives like its nothing, let theirs too be taken like nothing so they know how far. All these hopeless women that all they know is to tear vigina apart and give birth to children they can't train, this one won't kuku have anybody to mourn him so nobody will have to go through pain for his him. That is is he is truly guilty o and with this Guys experience am sure he is.

I was move to tears with this write up cos the narration/experience was very pathetic but jungle justice is even more pathetic cos it in a full glare of people who should have reported to the police but they know by next week the guy will be on the street again and if he venture identify any of the people who reported him....... story for the gods. But I think the pressure should be on our criminal justice system so that the police too will be happy doing their job. For real I don't envy any one in line of sensitive duty in Nigeria cos of what comes next after discharging your duty.

Pnp Reach said...

I will blame the Nigerian/lagos police not just this administration but the police force since the 1980s. Not Alafia in particular but a few bus stops close to mile two and festac are notorious for thiefs, especially a big stop where they sell tokunboh cars. My grandmother who lived close to festac was robbed at one of this stops, she was just shouting and people were watching her and this was in the 1990s. The police should have cleared that whole section including mile 2 and the thieves who rob trailers and containers on the move, those do it boldly and they don't care if you are driving behing and seeing them climb trailers and snatch goods. If future generations are poor and raised by bad parents or on the streets, nigerian job opportunities such as robbing will have to be controlled by the police not by the government but by the police. The police are adults, they do not need a president or governor to tell them want to do. If we have a professional police force, I hope young people will not go into criminal opportunities and also it can deter jungle justice. The failure of the police can be a reason actions like this takes place.

SHAME TO THE NIGERIAN SOCIETY, SHAME TO LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT, SHAME TO OUR SECURITY AGENTS because they most times see and just watch or even walk/drive pass, SHAME ON NIGERIAN LAW MAKERS TOO.

There are thieves and corruption in APC but don't come here and be writing rubbish like a misinformed Internet voltron. The Nigerian problem is not just APC alone, it's mostly PDP and each of us Nigerians that allow the situation to perpetuate.

People just sit down and talk about what they know nothing about.
These criminals don't want to die but they kill while robbing other people. These criminals have no regard for the lives of their victims. I am not in support of jungle justice. But don't judge when u don't know anything about the situation. Secondly, who even gave anyone the right to judge the mob????
THE SAME WAY NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO LYNCH OR CONDEMN ANYBODY TO DEATH IS THE SAME WAY NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO JUDGE THE MOB THAT LYNCHED THE ALLEGED CRIMINAL.
It is the same law and conduct that the criminals apply when attacking their victims, that is also used on the criminals when they re lynched.

Harrison eventhough I do not know you and your brother, yet my eyes are filled with tears and my heart with sorrow as I read the horrible death those bastards meted out to your innocent promising brother. Indeed Obinna's spirit will not rest until all his killers are dead.
Since you people reported the activities of those murderers to the police and they refused to intervene and stop the thieves, that means the police want you to help yourselves so let the lynching continue. This is how a revolution begins, we shall be free.

I once discussed this issue of Jungle Justice with a Medical Doctor i saw providing Petrol for those who were about to set a guy caught with a gun robbing and his story was so pathetic that i could not talk for some minuted and i cried.

He told me of how Armed Robbers came into their home and to rob and after collecting everything they had asked his sick old father who was also an amputee to stand up. When the old man got up with his crutches, he said one of the Armed robbers kick him in the Chest and the old man somersaulted. He said he was physically restrained by his mum as he wanted to react. He said they even threatened to kill him for trying to resist them but his mother and wife begged them not to. The father died about a month after the incident.

He said he did not forgive himself for not standing up for the old man even if it had taken his life.

It took me a long time to convince him and assist him get back his humanity which a medical doctor should have.

It is traumatic when anybody goes through the viciousness of these guys. But we should not loose our humanity all the same.

I will like to call on the Police to station their men in the bad spots. They know all the bad spots and should do something about it. The hospitals should also be compelled to accept all casualties and treat no matter the crime and then inform the police about it. If we do this, we shall save ourselves from these unnecessary loss of valuable lives. The doctors and nurses should understand that it may be their turn tomorrow and it may happen where nobody recognises them.

It's so disheartening that we do not value human lives in this country. In as much as I do not agree with the act of robbery, I do not support jungle justice. We are daily confronted with a lot of social and economic issues and people who are saddled with the responsibility of turning things around are busy slumbering.

There are so many questions that require urgent answers! First, are our Policemen adequately armed to handle doe of these heinous crimes in our society? Secondly, are they adequately motivated in the course of their duty? Thirdly, is there any kind of Insurance package for them in case they are wounded or eventually died in the process of protecting the citizens? Lastly, do we have enough Policeman to cover all the dark spots in our community? The reasons are endless!

Although, it is alleged that some of these officers are corrupt and lazy but in a situation where they are well remunerated and compensated in the eventuality of accident or death, our Policemen will be motivated to put in their best at all times.

Our government has a big role to play in the safety of lives and properties. More abled men and women must be recruited, their salaries have to be reviewed upwards and a failure-proof insurance package must be put in place to take care of their families in the case of accident or death.

Parents should also give birth to the number of children they can train. If possible, a law must be enacted to support birth control; a family shouldn't have more than 3 kids.

When victims suffer in silence none of us see it to condemn it... but when the culprits are made to suffer in open... we all start typing rubbish on social media... Kill them all please. Every last one of these violent thieves. Kill them all

Why is it that people just stand aside, looking, when someone is in trouble. I remember when my husband collapsed at a plaza. People surrounded us; I was crying and screaming for them to help me call a taxi, but nobody budged. I had to run to the nearest bus stop, dragging my three year old child with me, get a taxi, come back and pick him to the hospital. The irony is that on several occasions he was the first to bring his car and take people in that same situation, to hospital.

In a banana republic, worse still in a "zoo" country like Nigeria where no one takes responsibility, this would continue to be a daily occurrence while the citizen remain dazed and helpless. If some is in charge in Lagos, life and property would be protected. That is the essence of governance. When it can not be given to the people why remain in power? Shame to those who call themselves "Leaders" in Nigeria.

Emeka Onuoha said...

"He said he did not forgive himself for not standing up for the old man even if it had taken his life." Tosin George.
.
He did the right thing NOT intervening. His father would NOT have forgiven him if he had intervened and gotten himself killed in the process. His father would thus have lost his own life and his adult son's life. Additionally, his mother would NOT have forgiven him either for DOUBLING her losses; simultaneously losing her husband and her son. Besides, intervening would have served no purpose. He was ALONE facing a couple of ARMED bandits. It would have been foolhardy trying to play Rambo here. Tell the doc he did the right thing.

I understand Harrison’s point of view, I think to an extent I knew what he went through when his kid bro was murdered it really wasn’t funny and I understand what it means to not be able to to get closure for something that is draining you emotionally but even at that you can’t say you’ll be a first hand party to lynching a human because you feel terribly hurt by him, what then makes you different from the one you’re helping to lynch? Jungle justice makes both the victim and the perpetrators criminals, It’s a crazy world we live in, the Nigerian justice system is waay fucked and not helping matters at all but still we should leave them to do their jobs and not try to do it for them.. If everyone takes laws into their hands then which one of us will be safe? We’ll all have lost at least one family member to an aggrieved person. #notojunglejustice
