"We had people telling us it isn't real. It's a scam" British man writes about meeting his Nigerian wife online (Photos)

This beautiful love story has been making the rounds on Nigeria social media. A quick search seem to confirm that the couple, Thomas and Oyewobi Faith Thomas got married early this year. Below is what the proud groom wrote about meeting his beautiful wife online, the subsequent long distance dating and all the challenges they faced. Read after the cut...

"Love knows no colour or distance, our relationship proved that as my beautiful wife Faith is from Nigeria and I'm from England, we met online and the distances seemed impossible and we had people on both sides telling us it isn't real, it's a scam, and if it isn't, that we are too different for it to work out.
And we will only end up giving up and much more. But our love for each other grew so did our strength. To the point that we were willing to do anything to be together, as my loving wife proved by waiting a whole year for me to travel to meet her, as much as it was so difficult for her, coz she got mucked couple of times but am so glad she got support of her family that helped her through it. So we ignored everyone and I travelled to her, we are now married and we are about to start our beautiful mixed family. True love conquers all and will always prevail. Remember love sees no colour, may God bless you all as he has blessed us. Amen"

Congrats dearie. I m met mine on Facebook in May 2011. He proposed 3 days after we met. I was scared at first but my bff encouraged me to go ahead. He's a American and I Nigerian. His family said I was a scam and my colleagues discouraged but my family and my bff stood behind me. When I applied for a US visa to visit him in December 2011, I was denied the visa because I told them at the interview we met online. Tim arrived Nigeria for the first time on December 18, 2011. We got married on December 20, 2011. December 2016, will be our 5th year anniversary. Online relationship works. The thing is both party should be truthful and try not to make it a money making venture especially to the ladies and make sure he's not a serial killer and you get to be friends with his family on Facebook and he yours to be sure you both are authentic. Sometimes, taking a chance pays off. My next life, i'll do it again with Tim.
