Today is the 4th year death anniversary of Aluu 4 victims

Exactly today October 5th in 2012, Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Chiadika Biringa, and Tekena Elkanah, all students of the University of Port Harcourt were lynched after they were falsely accused of being thieves in Aluu, a community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Three of them had escorted one of their friends to go settle a debt with someone who lived in the nearby village of Aluu. In the cause of settling the debt, a misunderstanding ensued which turned into a fight and the debtor started screaming, claiming that the boys were thieves.

The vigilante group (some of them pictured above in court) in the village surrounded the boys, stripped them naked, tortured them until they were almost unconscious. Then in the presence of a large crowd, the boys were dragged through mud, had concrete slabs dropped on their heads, car tyres filled with petrol wrapped around their necks and burnt to death. No single person has been sent to prison for the crime.

RIP Ugonna, Lloyd, Chidi & Tekena

Only the boys can actually tell what transpired. I was a student of uniport as at that tym. But no matter what may be; it isn't worth killing them like that. They were only victims of circumstances. Moreover,if we had a functioning SUG; they wouldn't have been lynched. RIP

I wonder why the members of that vigilante group have not been prosecuted.

5 yrs gone, no justice. Since none of the boys were children of the elite, we don't expect justice to take it full course. God help us in this country

Morning Linda, it's been years I watch you remember these guys. I must confess I'm humble by your level of dedication to just movement. I have been with you from the start, but hardly comment. But this touched me this morning. I think this is what journalism is all about. This is why you will always be my first choice for news, whenever I come here, it's not about the news but how you dish it out. God bless, you sure make my days sweet.stay focus my dear

Nigeria is suffering today because o her sins of injustices. They are poor people perhaps. None of them has his father in Aso rock. We are suffering now and God knows why and we know when it all started. We are bearing the burden of so many years of not "being real humans".

For every time I see a post/news related to the Aluu killings,i feel sad and wonder why the so called vigilantes haven't been prosecuted till now and also the guy who cried wolf when there was none. I pray they all rest in peace and that justice be served.

Vegence is mine says the Lord. Our Lord shall seek vengeance for them. I only pity the descendants of these wicked vigilantes. They will suffer what their ancestors have done.
