Street beggars: 'Divert funds meant for pilgrimage to education' - Sen. Murray-Bruce advices state govts

Senator Ben Murray-Bruce is of the opinion that funds kept aside to fund pilgrimages should be diverted into education. In a post shared via social media, Murray-Bruce said:

"I am strongly of the view that states that have kids begging on the streets instead of learning in schools should as a matter of urgency divert whatever they budgeted for pilgrimage to education."

They claim sending people of those states on pilgrimage instills fear of God in the hearts of the people. This in turn would make them more tolerant to beggars
Giving of alms (sadaka) to beggars is acceptable in the Holy book of certain religion. Who would they give the alms to if beggars fail to exist?
I'm with Bruce regardless

Maybe he gave advice directly to Goodluck when he was in power, but can't give directly to Buhari because they are not close.

But i thought Buhari scrapped federal government's sponsoring of pilgrimage?

He can say it in the senate meeting and Buhari will still get to hear. He doesnt need to talk to Buhari directly. They can vote in the senate meeting and Bukola Saraki will convey it to the Presideny. He keeps talking on social media and social media cannot help implement any suggestion. I dont know why he keeps doing the eye service on social media when he can talk to senate president and house of rep. Stmcheew

The bible says; i wish above all things that thou will prosper and be in good health. So God doesnt wish for anybody to be poor. Anything that can eradicate poverty and remove beggers from our streets is welcome. It is so embarrassing when you see beggers all over the steets in Nigeria but when you travel abroad, you hadly see beggers on the streets or in traffic
