Photos of the Nigerians rescued off the Libyan coast

At least 28 bodies were recovered and more than 4,650 migrants rescued in 30 rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea off the Libyan coast. Statistics by Italian coast guard, states that the migrants were rescued from 33 boats, including 27 rubber dinghies. The coast guards say the total number of migrants rescued in the last 48 hours is more than 10,000 while the death toll stands at 50. A 23-year-old pregnant woman was among the dead.

Many of those rescued are Nigerian migrants. Among them are Abdul, Sandy, Ibrahim and 26-year-old Frances and her baby girl, born yesterday night. See more photos of the migrants on rescue ships. They have disembarked in Palermo, Italy and undergoing identification process.

God will punish them for attempting, and committing suicide. What are they looking for that they can't get here in Nigeria?

Nigerians, nay Africans should be discouraged from making these death journeys. About thirty percent of the people end up dying in the desert due to exhaustion, thirst and heat and birds of the air feed on their bodies because no one to bury them.Currently those who manages to cross to the other side into Europe are put in temporal accomodations until flights are arranged to take them back to their native countries from whence they escaped from. Is it worth it then to endure this dangerous journey only to find yourself back to zero? I have lost my youngest brother on this journey and the pain has refused to go twenty years later because we did not know how he met his fate nor did we have any body to bury. These are mostly very young men and women and what they go through on these trips is a story for another day. Youths should stay back home and take back their countries from corrupt African politicians who are responsible for these migrations to death valleys while protecting their own families.Stop being cowards, nations have been changed by the actions of the youths. The artificial poverty created by african leaders is meant to frighten and cower and then contain the people inorder to enslave them. Just like the Devil these leaders are, if you resist them, they will flee but if you flee from them they will subjucate and for ever enslave you............... Uju Oliver

Hmm! It is well. This is how our manpower are fleeing in their droves out of their fatherland. African leaders are very evil and demonic. Nigeria is the biggest of them all. Repent or God will bring a factor more hard than recession. Vc

Sad, I think is hard time government or NGO do a campaign against this especially to villages. Patients encourages their children with out knowing the danger and risk. I lost a friend who left home since 2006 till date no call from him, even when I try to discourage him. He told me he die out side Nigeria than to die here
