Kelly Hansome says its dumb to curb crime by preventing Nigerian ATM cards from working aboard

Singer/actor Kelly Hansome took to social media this morning to state his opinion on Banks suspending their Automated Teller Machine cards (debit and credit) from working overseas. This process began as dollar scarcity hit the economy badly. See his tweet after the cut...

CARDS OR CARS ?

It is more of a need to manage payment outflow in dollars. Nigerian Banks through the Central Bank of Nigeria settle foreign banks and merchants in dollars when we use our ATM cards abroad. As you are aware, we are facing dollar liquidity challenge due to low dollar inflow and our high demand for foreign goods consumption.

Kelly Handsome by his comment, can be likened to beauty with no brains. With all that is happening in Nigeria as regards the major reduction in foreign exchange revenue due to reduced crude oil production and repatriation of foreign exchange, he believes it is crime Banks are trying to curb by shutting down the use of cards abroad. Ol boy, because you are an actor/Singer is no excuse to be ignorant

This is the dumbest government since the inception of Nigeria. This is actually the first time in a Nigerian government administration where every single person in power is dumb and clueless including the president.

You're just a dumb ignorant mumu. Fighting crime isn't the reason for curbing ATM cards hediat!! There is shortage of forex to meet the demands of your fake lavish lifestyle. Be there displaying your illiteracy for the world to see. Get back to your weed-smoking-lack-of-hits lifestyle

This has nothing to do with curbing crime but managing demand of forex. The country doesn't have enough forex to satisfy the huge demand by Nigerians.

No sir. What is dumb is you thinking the reason for suspension of card usage is due to fraud. Dude get informed and stop making a fool of yourself on social media. It's because of forex scarcity and banks can't fund their offshore card obligations. The decision has nothing to do with federal government or CBN.
