Edo Election: Ize-Iyamu contested against INEC – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu contested against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), not the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the APC victory in the election as “victory only made possible by the use of federal government agencies to subvert the will of the people.”

Governor Fayose, who lamented that the win at all cost attitude of the APC was inimical to the sustenance of democracy in the country, said it was sad that instead of the people of Edo State electing their own governor, the APC conspired with INEC to foist its own governor on the people.

Speaking on the outcome of the election through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was unfortunate that those whose change was made possible because the then PDP government allowed the people the freedom to make a choice have now eroded the independence of INEC.

Governor Fayose said; “the stage for the manipulation of the election was set by the use of security agencies to postpone the election, even when there was no single security threat and what was witnessed in Edo State last Wednesday was the execution of the rigging plans perfected after the postponement.”

He said it should be obvious to all lovers of democracy in Nigeria and the international community that the APC led federal government will never allow free and fair election in the country as the PDP and other opposition parties now contest elections against INEC.

He noted that; “the power of the people to choose their governor was completely robbed at gunpoint in Edo State. Unfortunately too, these elements have even murdered the rights of Nigerians to protest against the subversion of their will and it is now obvious that only the insistence of Nigerians can save democracy in the country.
“Like I have said before, we are already seeing signs of what to come in 2019 and Nigerians should know by now that it will only take their insistence for their votes to count as long as these APC elements remain in power.”

Man of War, God Bless you this Morning, I am afraid the will of the people will be subverted for many years under Buhari, I weep for this great Institution called INEC, that former President Jonathan had given a Independent Meaning. But my question is - How can our Democracy survive with Buhari as the defacto Chairman of INEC????????????

Very well said.....the postponement of the elections was deliberately done not because of any security threat but by the mere fact that it coincided with the birthday of the Esama of Benin kingdom.
The crook of a Governor Oshomhole made this statement on the very last day of his campaign aired live on AIT where he said that "they wanted to use the victory of the election results to celebrate their father's birthday".The people of Edo state massively voted for the PDP,if Oshomhole likes let him change the results in favour of APC,the truth can never be hidden;it will surely come out at the end.

I'm just ashamed of our politicians can't they just accept defeat?. Edo election has come and gone pls move forward moreover election tribunal will be set up soon where you can seek redress. At the moment constructive critics are needed for this present govt to be on their toes in proffering strategic and systemic solution to our failing economy.

I doubt if there's anyone who will think that APC can, or will win any free and fair election anywhere in Nigeria today, I mean with what Nigerians are going through in the hands of the party and their government. It is not enough for us all to whine and murmur about election rigging in Nigeria, because it was election rigging by APC and INEC, that foisted this regime of affliction on we Nigerians. Therefore, our concerns now should be, what we should do to stop election rigging at all levels

The people of Edo State hate PDP because of the Igbinedions. If Ize Iyamu was in APC, he would have won. The Igbinedions did nothing for Edo State while in power for 8 good years. Also, the Igbinedions are very selfish and self-centred people. They dont like helping anybody. Lucky didnt help any of his friends or even extended family members while he was governor. He didnt repair any roads or build one single infrastructure. So Fayose is not an Edo blood and doesnt know what he is talking about. Even if another election is conducted, Obaseki will still win because Igbinedion is Ize Iyamu's God-father. He is the one sponsoring him and Edo people are aware. So it is not about party or INEC, it is about individual.

PDP are known for rigging. They are the grandmasters of rigging. So this time around, APC beat them to it. APC used their own tricks and game to disarm them. Hahahahahaha

PDP is wailing because APC blocked them from rigging this time. They have always had their way but this time, APC was out for them. Lmao

Osa said...

To show how much the people of Edo State hate the Igbinedions that are the sponsors of Ize Iyamu, Igbinedion's local government voted for Obaseki. He won in Igbinedion's local government and also won in Tom Ikimi's local govt. So the elections were not rigged. Edo people are now wiser and they voted wisely. PDP should accept defeat. They truth of the matter is that PDP is not liked by majority of the people of Edo state. They have had enough of Igbinedion controlling the state by sponsoring his chosen candidates

Fayose has no moral justification to criticise INEC or APC because he has no integrity. We all know how you won elections in Ekiti State with evidences of audio, pictures of rigging. So just shut up and bury your ugly fat head in shame. Hypocrite!

Ukinebo said...

Losers always blame it on rigging and INEC. Accept defeat and move on. Next pls

Aimufua said...

But it is PDP that taught APC how to rig na. The only problem is that they outsmarted you in your own game this time around. No dulling at all. Hehehehe
