Buhari implores Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria goods

President Buhari has implored Nigerians to patronize made in Nigeria goods. He made this call today Monday October 10th while speaking at the 22nd Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, where he stated that increasing local production of goods and services will not only create jobs for the youths but move Nigeria from an import-based to an export-based economy.

“My greatest desire is that Nigeria moves from import dependence to self-sufficiency in local production and become an export-led economy in goods and services. I am delighted that your theme is: ‘Made in Nigeria’ which lies at the heart of so many efforts we are making to lead us through this trouble times and lay a firm foundation for the future. As I have said in the past, we need to diversify the economy so that we will never again have to rely on one commodity to survive as a country. So that we can produce the food we eat, make our own textiles, produce most of the things we use and create the right environment for our youth to be able to benefit and create jobs through technology. This has been the commitment and the mandate of this administration and I have remain focus on it since the assumption of this administration Fortunately, we have champions of made in Nigeria that have defied the odds over the years to produce locally and contribute to our economy. I hope by the end of this you will make useful and realistic recommendations and policies.” he said

He noted that Initiative and incentives that will enhance work are already been put in place by this administration.
"I encourage more local production, to improve ease of doing business environment, transfer our technology and innovation capabilities, improve quality and standards, promote export and change our old attitude and behaviours to made in Nigeria products and services, he said".

Change begins with all of us. Thank God we are already patronising African print materials

Anonymous said...

His wife is always in native material most of the time

Anonymous said...

And may God also punish you that is supporting corruption

Anonymous said...

I agree with you Mr President but tell those making the made in Nigeria goods to make them with good quality materials especially the Igbos. The Igbos are known for cheating because they want to save cost. If you buy Aba made shoe, the sole of the shoe will pull off within a week. The problem with Nigeria made things is that we are not honest with ourselves. We cheat and lie a lot just to outsmart the next person and make profit. The only thing i will patronise is our African material. I cannot patronise Nigerian shoes because i dont trust them. Sorry

OK sir

You that is asking about his shoe, is your car made in Nigeria?

Anonymous said...

Mr President wears Nigerian clothes all the time.

Anonymous said...

The made in Nigeria things that Mr President is talking about is not only what you wear on your body. It is things like foodstuff, detargent, soap, egg, cereal, tootpick, beverage, soft drinks, comb, brush, beads etc

Anonymous said...

He's should start with his family, they wear watches of millions of dollars and shoes worth thousthousands of pounds and he's talking about patronizing local products, hypocrisy at its height. Linda Ikeji does not use Nigerian products oo. She names the high-end foreign designers who make her clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. Linda nwa Ikeji help grow the naira.

Sam said...

You nkor? Is your mobile phone handset made in Nigeria?

Pascal said...

Thank you Onyx. Most of the made in Nigeria stuff are not good quality. All they use their brains for is 419 fraud and drugs. They cant use their brains for good quality products and they expect us to patronise them

How many among the elites patronize Nigerian goods? That aside, I believe that if the materials used in made in Nigeria goods is improved on, it will go a long way in encouraging people to purchase.

Buhari spent over #20million to treat ear problem caused by flying upandan to all the countries of the world, telling them Nigeria is bad and corrupt. So no doctor could cure him in Nigeria abi? Now he wants us to patronize made in Nigeria goods. Aisha's Hermes hand bag costs over $50,000. Help me check the value in naira by multiplying it by 470. Only a fool still hopes in this government

Segun Adegoke said...

This administration should create an enabling environment for local goods to survive and the leaders should lead by example. That is when we can move forward.
