$2.1b Arms deals: Dasuki intends to call former Pres. Goodluck Jonathan as witness

Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, who is currently on trial for alleged mismanagement of $2.1 billion arms funds, says he intends to invite former President Goodluck Jonathan as his witness.
Jonathan has in the past condemned the charges against Dasuki, claiming that there is no way the ex-NSA could have stolen about $2.2billion funds for arms.

Dr. Jonathan said:
“We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army,” he said in a recent interview at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.
Speaking with The Nation correspondent, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), the ex-NSA’s counsel, said Dasuki wanted Jonathan to testify in court on his behalf.
Raji said:
“It will be desirable for Jonathan to testify for the ex-NSA. It will throw greater light into grey areas. And it will serve the interest of Justice. It will be fantastic for him to go to court to testify. Dasuki is an agent of a disclosed and known principal.”
Another member of Dasuki's legal team said:
“With what Jonathan said in London, the only logical thing for him to do is to see it through.
“We want Jonathan to follow-through. If he backs out, it will be bad.” But, in Raji’s view, a political solution will be better than trial because of the “characters involved”. He said: “But, frankly speaking, I pray for a political solution to the problem because of the characters involved.xx
“Both the accused and the government should embrace a political solution to the problem.”
When asked if Dasuki was ready to proffer a political solution, he answered:
“Why not? He is. He added:
”I believe the President is very sincere. He wants to reorganise Nigeria and he deserves the support of all.
“With a political solution, Mr. President will be in good stead to overcome unnecessary distractions in order to succeed. “I pray that everybody will key into his vision and the economic challenges facing the nation.” Those point of advising a political solution is that it will not be “tidy” for Dasuki to mention all those who got money from his office. Among them, said a source, are a prominent traditional ruler in the North, who reportedly got N500 million and a former Head of State. A source, who spoke in confidence, said Dasuki’s defence team was banking on Jonathan’s testimony. The source said: “All is set for the defence of Dasuki, who is still insisting on an open trial to let Nigerians know the beneficiaries of the arms cash.
“One of those who may testify is ex-President Goodluck Jonathan whose remarks in London appeared to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA.
“You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash. And from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did.
“We believe it has reached a level that Nigerians must know what really happened, how funds were disbursed and who got what. “This is why a secret trial is not a viable option, with the way things are going.”
“So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki. This will make the trial worth it.”
Dasuki had on December 13, 2015 said he disbursed the funds on Jonathan’s instructions.

The ex-NSA said:
“I wish to state as follows: That I have been publicly indicted and any statement may jeopardise my defence. Having been briefed by the EFCC investigators on why I was invited, I will answer the charges in court. As such, I do not wish to make any further statement on the matter.
“That I am aware in November (I cannot remember the exact date), my office requested the CBN to exchange N10billion from the account of the Office of National Security Adviser domiciled in CBN. The money was exchanged at $47m and some Euros which I cannot remember. The exact amount was delivered at my residence.
“The money was for delegates that attended the nomination convention for the PDP. Presidential nomination. The money was paid and sent to Hon. (Waripamowei) Dudafa (SSAP Household) and ADC(C-I-C) for distribution on the instruction of the President.
“Based on the statement of Director of Finance and Administration (Salisu), Ibrahim Wambai, and Yazidu Ibrahim, all the cash (both foreign and local) are usually given to them for official use. “I also noted the statement of Sagir Bafarawa whose company is Dalhatu Investment in which he stated that he received the sum of N4,633,000,000 from the account of the Office of the NSA. I authorised the payment . The money was for vehicles, motorcycles for youth empowerment and women sent to Saudi Arabia. I got the proposal from the President. I do not have the proposal; it should be at the office in the Villa.”

Good way to go Mr man,so from the look of things goodluck instructed you to share the money that way and am sure he has his reasons for doing so ,so let him come and tell us .and you see that is why I said gej is good man cos if not that he testified at oxford university that you can't steal such amount of money u won't have been able to call him as a witness so this is a good development so that my ear can hear word kwaraption

Good! Since already "indicted" GEJ could be blabbing up & down that he didn't believe Dasuki stole up to $2.1b,claiming that his past govt also bought some amunitions (outdated & seconded ones for that matter),then let him come to d court as a witness as wished by Dasuki. Jonathan could 'save' his ass and his own ass a little. But so disappointing GEJ as a Pres then didn't display some sense of leadership, he & his dictator wife were corrupt, simple! Yet he also says he fought corruption without "making noise", haba! This sounds stupid & childish to most Nigerians! Nigerian politicians..." Birds of d feathers "..

Even with what he SAID? 10billion Naira withdrawn from NSA account for PDP Presidential Nomination. Why do you people attach unreasonable sentiment to issues? Will he be set free in advanced climes? You lot are blaming the "FULANI COW" for the present economic challenges and at the same time want him to free all those that put us in it. May God really help you.

Chizzy Liz, imaging yourself calling somebody "Fulani cow",when Dasuki himself admitted sharing $47m to politicians who also acknowledged receipt, yet you're at home deceiving yourself that Dasuki should be release after diverting money meant for arms to political campaign funds, what moral justification do you have for him to be release? Nil. Our ex-president couldn't have said anything on that aspect since the case is in court, however how dose Mr Jona reacts to those politicians who collected their part of the ill-gotten money from Dasuki? Obanikoro too testified even wants to return some of the money, now that the Dasuki defence council are seeking for political solution to the saga what can you say about it? Bros sharrraaap and stop supporting evils. In the first place Dasuki lacks the fear of God, morale, betrayed his family, his religion, his region, his boss (Mr Jona), his govt, and the people of Nig. What an evil? When he was entrusted with many responsibilities of our great national interest, eg(Security), he vehemently thrown the country to the hands of Bokoharam, as an ex-soldier who should have known better, but he sold his integrity, honor, and pride to politicians who lacked the goals of their common people at heart. Dasuki wanna call Mr Jona as a witness to testify the diversion of the arms money or to contradict his political allies who benefited from the arms funds, well either of the two options; must still jail Dasuki, cus the facts on ground there in the Northeast-Nig should speak better than what Jona was told by his unloyal service chiefs. Dr. Jonathan said:
“We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army,” he said in a recent interview at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom. So,despite buying all these equipments; many soldiers were killed, soldier's base/locations were taken over by Bokoharam, innocent people were kidnapped/killed, churches/mosques, motorparks, markets, schools, houses were batterly destroyed by the terror group, the entire Northeast was almost taking over by same Bokoharam sect, yet the then higher military commanders told Mr Jona, that they were winning the war and my innocent ex-president concoured without justifying their wards with the reality on ground. Brothers and sisters, Dasuki and others if found guilty, must be jailed. And you over there deceased from supporting wrong doers or evils.

Buahar's administration first said that GEJ administration didn't buy any weapon to fight Boko haram. When GEJ countered that he bought weapons, they said he bought outdated weapons. The same outdated weapons they said GEJ bought, was the same weapon PMB government use defeat Boko Haram. If $2.2 billion was missing, let PMB government show us the documents that were signed for the money to be stolen. PMB is doing this to Dasuki, because of what Dasuki did during the coup against Buhari. But Dasuki was acting then by the orders of his superiors IBB and co.

So a lot of people still believe that there is nothing like arms deal right? So all this confession Obanikoro, Fayose, Falaye received is from where? Boko Haram arms deal? We live in a society that we celebrate and encourage crimes and looting that is why we are at this stage as a nation.

Foolish people cant see that these folks mortgaged our future, we the youths. Dasuki is openly agreeing that he withdrew at least 1bn naira from ONSA account to give to delegates at the PDP convention as bribe and some ignorant folks like freeborn are still here saying there is no such thing as dasukigate. I pity y'all
