I lose at least $1m every year, serving Nigeria – Minister of state for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu says

Minister of state for Petroleum resources, Ibe Kachikwu, says he loses at least $1 million every year for serving Nigeria. According to The Guardiann, Kachikwu said this while speaking at a forum in Abuja yesterday February 14th.
“The call to public service for me was unique. I was vice-president of Exxon Mobil West Africa and I was suddenly called to serve. In serving, I lose a lot of money, if not at least a million dollars every year by virtue of being a minister, but the thing is, I am directed by the voice of God.
I believe that this country needs help. I believe that it is about time we began to perform for the young and upcoming. I believe that the sheer capacity of this country is unimaginable. I do not know of any country in the world with our population, our resources, our intellect, our flamboyance, our family nexus, everything is together.” he said

I believe him...that's like 200 million Naira a year...That's like 16 million a month. I know a manager with Exxon Mobil that makes about 4 million a month, so this man should make way more than that if he was still with them.

I love this man. Give it to Buhari, he has looked across the country to get great and selfless people to serve their fatherland. It takes a great love, passion and courage to accept to serve Nigeria as Mobil VP
people will abuse and insult him upon this, but God almighty will reward him and his progeny.
These are unlike professional politicians whose main aim for 'service' is to acquire wealth and power.

stop talking, start working...who bloody cares if u lose a billion every year, where u appointed at gunpoint? so so rubbish talk everyday from all these chameleon government appointees.

Anonymous said...

Good stuff!
The only way he can be making less money being Minister of state of Petroleum is if he is not stealing.
This is the way to go, where people will actually hold positions in the Government because they want to serve and risk loosing money because they could actually make more money with their brain somewhere else!

Kachikwu, as exxon mobil boss, what was your record worth oil producing communities that host exxon operatIons? Are they free of pollution and are all experiencing medium to high economic gains at the community level and high levels of well being thanks to your efforts as boss?

This man knows he is talking to gullible Nigerians who voted for Buhari and APC. This man is making more than $1m where he is now,he should shutup and stop lying to gullible Nigerians.

He actually meant lost $1m and gained $10m

@Miko Mbaekwe shut up. Naijas too like free things. Go and work hard like Linda and stop begging up and down looking for give away things. We LIB readers made Linda who she is but did you make Ibe Kachikwu who he is? Is it you that gave him the Mobil job? Abi is it you that paid his school fees? Abeg go hang for corner.

Kachikwu Ibe has gone from his usually unwarranted deployment of "oil marketing" jargons at press conferences to beautiful lies telling, of course, targeted at the very gullible nigerians.... His claims of losing $1m dollars yearly in the course of serving the Nation is another one impression gone berserk.....
I am very tired of these crop of jobber appointees.

Nigerians are really petty.... A man was talking in church and decided to express himself, all of a sudden it's news and all people can do is come here and insult him.....
Nigeria is dying because of all you negative people that cannot for a sec take a break and encourage people who are selfless enough to take a bold step and make this country a better place. Such a shame
