NNPC shuts down Kaduna, Port Harcourt refineries over pipeline vandalism

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), today Wednesday Jan. 20th said they have shut down two refineries, one in Port Harcourt and the other in Kaduna following blowing up of pipelines in the Niger Delta.
"The plants were shut on Sunday because of “breaches” to the Bonny-Okrika supply line to Port Harcourt and the Escravos-Warri pipeline to Kaduna" NNPC said in a statement.
The NNPC said before the closure on Sunday, the Port Harcourt refinery was processing more than 4.1 million litres of petrol per day while Kaduna was producing about 1.3 million litres.
“In response to the unexpected setback, we have activated comprehensive remedial measures to sustain the prevailing stability in the supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country,” the company said in a statement by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe.

Bigger problems await Nigeria and Nigerians.South Africa just announced recently that she will stop buying Nigeria oil.SA wants to shift to buying Iran oil. I wonder which country will buy Nigeria oil. Buhari should smell the coffee and start to think outside the box, only if he knows how to be analytical in his thinking. What a shame to this government that try to steal the budget from the back door in the National Assembly.Buhari is retard in his thinking and a failure to Nigerians.

We just pray it does not result in another Warri crises when other tribes in d affected area decide to take up arms to defends their territories

Why will SA buy Nigerian oil after the humiliation of MTN? Does Nigeria realise that as far as crude oil is concerned, it's a buyer's market? It's the buyer's dictating the tune because the world is drowning in crude oil oversupply.

Who the hell is Tomoplo? Is Tompolo God? Somebody is behaving irresponsibly and is destroying Nigeria's resources just because they invited him to come and explain how he got the money for arms deal and you are supporting him. Nobody said they will jail him. They just said he should explain. Afterall, Tony Anenih and Olu Falae has explained and nobody jailed them. It is when u prove stubborn that is when they arrest or jail you. You are the people spoiling this country by supporting evil. Pls shut up if you dont have any meaningful comment to make.

It is obvious that you benefited from the chaos and free looting of the last regime. Your comments are consistent with that of a selfish, self centered, bitter person who wishes Nigeria no good. Fortunately your type are a minority. Keep up with the bitterness and it would consume you.

Anonymous said...

Tompolo is kids play for our military. This is not the GEJ led corrupt military. They would crush Tompolo and his gang of criminals. They actions are based on greed and self centered desires for money that is why GEJ was able to keep them quiet with money. They would all dissolve if they are confronted with a determined and focus military might.

I'm wondering what the Nigerian military was doing when our oil pipelines in the escravos were blown up, thus inflicticting suffering on Nigerians? Will they say they least expected such unpatriotic act by enemies of the Nigerian state?I'm not angry with the vandals, but with the Nigerian forces who failed again in their statutory duties, dropping the ball at a critical time. Why must the Nigerian forces always operate reactionarily while the enemies of the Nigerian state operate proactively being steps ahead of them? Honestly if Buhari does not charge the Nigerian forces and fish out the animals that did this and purnish them as deterent , then he's not yet serious to moving this country forward.

By the time this people realize the consequences of what they are starting again, it would have been too late for them and the country as a whole. The actions this boys are taking is very detrimental to the growth of this nation especially at this period when we are barely crawling to survive as a nation. Between, the oil is proving not to be a trusted sustainer of our economy. DIVERSIFICATION! DIVERSIFICATION! RAPID DIVERSIFICATION! is what we need right now.

Were you one of the vessel owners? Otherwise you would realise that you can transport more, cheaper and faster through pipes.

This is a temporary setback and a good excuse to send the newly established Niger delta division of the Nigerian army after those boys.

Once they pickup 100 militants in the creeks others would dissappear into thin air and we would have lasting peace. Don't forget the militants don't have any religious ideology to fall on just greed for money.
