Fashola unfolds 13-point agenda to revive power sector, promises improved power services

Minister of Power, Road and Works, Babatunde Fashola, has unveiled his 13-point agenda for the power sector in Nigeria. Fashola unveiled his plans during the maiden meeting he had with power generation, distribution and transmission companies, and other stakeholders in Abuja today January 11th.

Fashola in his address said the agenda involves continuous public engagement on tariff collection, debts, power generation, maintenance, ancillary services, dispatch orders and discipline, gas requirement and constraints, transmission constraints, 33KV load off take, imbalances-locations of excess, overload safety, service quality, new captive and embedded generation, franchising and other issues relevant to the growth of the sector.

He promised to work for a great improvement in pow‎er distribution.

The easiest way to generate electricity in Nigeria is Through WIND. It is cheaper, more affordable and it is renewable. So as long as WIND blows the Blades that transmit electricity to our homes there will be Constant light. It is very healthy because there are no carbon emissions. The system we used in generating light in Nigeria is very dangerous because Gas has carbon emissions which is injurious to our health and shortens our life span. The world is changing to renewable energy for electricity, Nigeria should not be left out. We can fix it.

Of more importance is the levying imposed by unscrupulous company called BEDC, her mantra is "Collection of Monthly dues" either thre is light or not.
They do not cater for any problem faced by the customers, never! Customers have to repair transformers or buy new ones as the case may be.
No kobo will be contributed by them towards all that effort and completion after months of light out, they'll demand you pay your bills before restoration of power.
What a pathetic company.

How can we make Fashola know that BEDC will only sabotage his efforts if there is no strong consumer protection agency (like NCC is to telecoms).
BEDC is taxing people out without delivering.

Linda ,Pls help us make this known to the govenment.
