Cussons Baby Toddler Grow & Shine talent contest winner emerges

Winner of the first ever toddler talent competition in Nigeria, brought to you by Cussons Baby, makers of premium baby care products, finally emerged at a grand finale which was held Saturday, January 9 at Planet One, Maryland in Lagos.

Coming first out of the 20 finalists was Imisioluwa Oladapo, who wowed the audience, as well as the judges, with a breath taking performance that included miming beautifully to a voice over she recorded herself and other songs. She also exhibited an unusual patriotism, as she represented the Nigerian flag colours with her costume and props which certainly got the hearts of the judges. Imisioluwa Oladapo carted away the 1 million naira educational grant grand prize as well as a year’s supply of Cussons Baby Products.

The talent competition tagged: Cussons Baby Toddler Grow and Shine, is one of the two competitions under the Cussons Baby Moments 3 platform; the other being the Baby of the Year (photo) contest. The Toddler talent contest officially kicked off in November 2015 and had an entry of over200 children.
Addressing the audience, a Brand Manager, Family Care of Cussons Baby Nigeria, Oluwaseun Ayeni said “Cussons Baby believes that all babies are uniquely gifted, and this year, a new category was added to the competition to give toddlers between the ages of 2 and 5 years the opportunity to share their amazing talents.”
In second position was Peter Hayble, who thrilled the audience with a piano performance of three different songs, he won a N250,000 education grant. Dancing her way to the third position was Amarachi  Akujobi, who also won an education grant worth N150,000. Both 1st and 2nd runner up also got a shopping voucher and a year’s supply of Cussons Baby products.

All the contestants were great on stage, as they entertained the audience and judges with various performances that ranged from dancing, to singing, violin performance and modelling. The fourth contestants to the 20th were each given consolatory shopping vouchers, as well as Cussons Baby products.

Our team of celebrity judges, MI, WAJE and Chidinma, said over the course of pruning the contestants, they had lots of fun with the children and most were very talented indeed but “we had no choice but to arrive at the final 20,” said WAJE.

Addressing parents, MI urged them to “endeavour to spend more time with your children and get close to them, this way, you can discover their talents and help them groom it from a very young age.” He added that the winner was arrived at, based on her confidence, creativity and overall performance.
It was a colourful and lovely event, as everybody had lots of fun, from the dance competitions, to contestants and their parents having lots of food, drinks, goodies and gifts to go home with. Mrs Yinka Olukuga Ademo the MC, popularly known as Nnenna from the ‘Nnenna and Friends’ tv show ensured the guests had a wonderful and fun time at the event.

The Cussons Baby of the Year contest for ages 0-3 years is still on, up until 31st January, 2016. The grand finale will be coming up soon and promises to be just as exciting.
