81% of Nigerians will vote next year...according to CPNS

According to the ‘Current Pulse of Nation’s Survey’, a poll conducted by Research and Marketing Services (RMS), an affiliate of TNS Global, a market research company and Gallup International’s representative in the country, 81% of Nigerians are willing to vote in the forthcoming elections. The poll sampled 5000 respondents, aged 18 years and above, from across the country.

81% are willing to vote, but how many really will? When it comes to elections, more people say they will vote than they actually do! Like, I want to vote...but my problem is; will my vote be counted?

Naomi Campbell Says She's No Role Model

Naomi admits,

"I make many mistakes. Many mistakes. I'm not a perfect human being. I have to learn from my mistakes. And a lot of the ones I've made have been public.

"So I always get nervous when people speak about something that sounds like a role model, because I don't know if I've been a great role model myself. I don't think I have in certain aspects of my life.

"But I'm trying to do better. I admit to my mistakes. I admit to the things that I've done wrong. I admit it. But I'm trying to do right by myself and my life now."

New Independence N50 note Launched With 50th anniversary logo

So our Naija Govt yesterday, Wednesday 29, 2010, launched the redesigned N50 commemorative note and non-circulating coins (some coins are produced in 22 carat gold, others are gold plated silver.”) to mark the 50 years of Nigeria as an independent State. The new note is expected to exist side by side with the old one, while the coins will serve as souvenirs during the anniversary.

The new notes is obviously the same with the circulating N50. The only difference is the addition of the 50th anniversary logo, a gold iridescent band, and a goodwill message written in varnish.

Are these new notes necessary really?

Tuface and Tonto
For those who were at Tuface's show last night, did y'all see what Tuface and Nollywood actress Tonto Dike did on stage? Mehn that was the highpoint of the show...for me! O bad baje baje mehn! Someone took off top, took off bra, another one took off belt, there was touchy-touchy, kissy-kissy, but it was all play-play for the show. See, I can rhyme...:-)

Pictures from Tuface Live in Concert

I was at Tuface Idibia's live concert last night at Eko Hotel, and boy, what a show! Tuface is unarguably the best live performer in naija and the greatest African singer of our generation.

I took these pictures myself with my small camera, so it's not very clear, but you can see a bit of how fantastic the show was. Kudos to the organisers, Tuface, his dancers, the hosts - MI and Banky W and everyone who contributed to the success of the show.

The Nigerian Constitution provides for two terms for any occupant of the Presidency, so we must set standards for a sitting candidate to conduct credible elections.” - President Goodluck Jonathan

My observations at Omotola's album launch

Observation No.1...or you could call it my opinion...Omotola can sing. Don't bite my head's what I think. She sang live and I was amazed at how powerful her voice was. I had to ask around to be sure she was really singing live. It was totally different from listening to her on radio and TV. She hit some high notes. But best of all was how much fun she had on that stage...she really loves singing so I guess she's here to stay. And like I always tell people, you have only one life to live, so do everything you want to do and don't care who disapproves or how stupid you look doing it.

Second observation: Usually when someone who belongs to an industry is doing something very important, (at least to them) colleagues from that industry turn up to support one of their own. There were lots of people at Omotola's album launch but I only saw a few people from Nollywood. Chidi Mokeme, Stella Damasus, Zik Zulu Okafor...and...can't recall seeing anyone else. I expected to see the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke, Ini Edo and the rest, but Stella Damasus was the only actress at the launch.
