France's top court overturns burkini ban

France's top administrative court on Friday overturned a ban on burkinis in a Mediterranean beach resort, effectively overturning the bans on the swimsuits that have divided the country.

Death of Nigerian social worker at a sex party in the UK ruled as accident

The death of 35-year-old Nigerian social worker who died at a James Bond-themed swingers party after he told his friend he was attending an evening church service has been ruled as an accident on Thursday, August 25th, 2016 at Herts Coroner's Court. Edmund Echukwu, who was born in Nigeria and lived at Springwood Crescent in Edgware, attended the swingers party at Littlecroft on Theobald Street in Radlett but later died after he was pulled from the bottom of a swimming pool in the early hours of March 28 2015.

Idris concerned about reports of car hijacking and removal of vehicles from where packed by unknown person(s) ordered a crackdown on criminals responsible for car hijacking and stealing nationwide. Consequently, IGP’s Special Tactical Squad swung into action and arrested twenty nine (29) suspects from different states of the federation and also recovered twelve (12) exotic cars. The operation will be sustained to cover the entire country.

Mum drowns saving her two-year-old son who fell off their boat in Utah lake

A 33-year-old mother, Chelsey J. Russell of Lakewood Colorado, died while rescuing her two-year-old son who had fallen into Lake Powell, Utah, from a boat they were travelling in. The whole family was out boating on the landmark lake when the 2 year old boy fell overboard. Chelsey jumped in after him to save him from drowning while other family members tried to stop the houseboat they were in and turn it around to pick both of them up.

Angry about Jo Ann winning, Patsy exposed herself as a racist on Facebook when someone questioned her about the election. Patsy responded to a constituent saying, “I lost. The ****** won."

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the donation of N5million to the family of Late Adamu Slisu Dangwari, a petroleum tanker driver who lost his life in an unfortunate incident involving personnel of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) while on duty at 2nd Rainbow Bus Stop, Mile 2 in Lagos early this year.

Kogi state governor reportedly attacked by aggrieved residents of the state

The Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello was reportedly attacked by some aggrieved residents of the state today August 26th. According to multiple sources, the governor who had gone to the Lokoja Central Mosque to observe his Juma'at prayer, was attacked by some aggrieved residents who threw stones, rotten food and fruits at his convoy as it departed the mosque.
The residents say they are not happy with the manner in which the state governor is managing the affairs of the state. They say they are groaning in hardship and hunger as most of the civil servants had not been paid their salaries. 

French court suspends ban on Muslim women swimwear 'Burkini'

France’s highest administrative court has ruled that the ban on muslim female swimwear 'burkini' being enforced on the country’s beaches are illegal and a violation of fundamental liberties. More than 30 French towns have banned burkinis, which cover the whole body except for the face, hands and feet.  Officials say the ban on the burkini was a response to growing terror concerns.

Four surveyors who drowned in Ekiti river not World Bank officials – Agency says

There were reports online yesterday that the four surveyors that died in the boat mishap at the Egbe River in Ekiti state on Wednesday August 24th (read here), were World bank staff. The Third National Urban Water Sector Reform agency whose project the deceased persons were working on, this morning released a statement making the clarification that the deceased persons namely Alaran Tirimisiyu, Abdulwaheed Alayande, David Malu and Albert, were not staff members of the World bank. The suspect identified as Purity Kiritu was admitted at Othaya District Hospital, Kenya on Wednesday, August 24th, at about 7:30 pm after pretending she was in labour.

18 year old Kaleb Amponsah was today, Friday August 26th, sentenced to 22 years in prison at the Old Bailey for the murder of a 27-year-old Nigerian man, after stabbing him to death in broad daylight in an east London park.

Amponsah, of Robertson Road, Newham, was found guilty on Thursday 28 July, at the Old Bailey of killing Ade Afariogun by stabbing him in the stomach in front of the victim's friends.

An Indian man had to carry his wife’s body on his shoulders for nearly 12 km as he had no money for a van and the hospital authorities allegedly refused to arrange one.
With his teenage daughter sobbing by his side, Dana Majhi wrapped his wife Amangadei’s body in old sheets from the bed at the hospital in Bhawanipatna town on Wednesday morning, August 24th, adjusted her on his shoulders and started walking to his home in Melghar village in Kalahandi’s Thuamul Rampur block, about 60 km away.
